The technical answer is that one side of the stud should be exposed to allow for internal moisture to have a way out. I would chat with my supplier if I was doing that for you because Zip wall is not bonded to the stud. So that side in NOT 100% tight and can equalize. But would chat with the technical advisers.

Oscar you are 100% correct. Our sprayers are paid by the hr. They are held accountable for what the do. We are a team, the management sets the goals (realistic) and the field staff have to execute. Thank you for your words.

I get paid by square footage. Spray fast sometimes more than a set a day almost 2 and that is not an excuse to leave the job shitty with experience comes speed and a job well done

This is why I pay salaries above the hourly rates on overtime. Then the incentive is to do it quickly and go home, but to do it correctly or you'll be fired.

No. If you ever need to replace any of the plywood from leaks then you are going to pry it off the foam with pry-bars and drop a new sheet in place. Using a synthetic breathable membrane over the roof instead of tar paper will help the roof dry out quickly if it ever gets damp so it won’t rot.

That's a big question. I would assume yes someone will have it. Other countries have SPF, Europe, Japan, Canada, USA, Russia so I see why not in Australia. Do some research with BASF, they are the global leader in SPF tech and can direct you to anyone using their products in Australia.

Cheap and SPF are two words that lead to disaster. I do not know what you need and what to do about it. Watch some of my other videos to bring your SPF IQ up so you can make sensible decisions. As far as the scamdemic is concerned hold on until new year, after Jan 20, 2021 to make plans.

@@SprayJones Naa, I want the best stuff I just can't afford 10k + right now but he walls condense if you lean anything against them because there is no insulation in the walls.

@@johnarizona3820 John, look into a product called, Concrobium, for the mold issue. It's very good at it's job. But, you will need to deal with the moisture problem first.

@@johnarizona3820 lol nothing is going back to normal for years at this point from the pandemic. the guy has no interest in helping people, its more of a self plug and help people decide what they want if needing a foam application.

It is not dumb, getting this question more and more so will have to do a video on it. You can... anything is possible. I always weigh the cost to benefit ratio and for open cell to have better sound properties you need 4 inches and up. So switch out to just get 2.5 inches is a waste IMO.

@@themindunset like he was saying, you can. I don’t personally like switching back and forth all the time between open and closed cell foam with my rig. Kind of a pain and there is always wasted chemical that you can’t do anything with. In a 2x6 wall I’ve done 3 inches of closed cell and then a 1.5 inch Rockwool AFB over the top for sound. I’ve had customers that have put a 2x4 fiberglass batt over the same as well for sound and additional R. In South Dakota here the majority of what you will see installed in closed cell foam. And actually on my garage roof I did closed cell with about 12 inches of open cell over the top of it for maximum R value at lower cost. And about 6 inches of closed cell in the walls. I could about heat that 40x72 with a candle.

E84 is an ASTM test for burn rates and smoke density. It is a USA standard and does apply within Canada. It is used to rate different products for their flame spread.

Yes, we do those from time to time. Spend more time cleaning than we do spraying.

That is a broad statement. "Void warranty" so we have to look at what, why, who, and under how much for how long....in other words.... BS!

Well I can only speak for my area. The answer is NO. The code allows it provided certain conditions are met. It is a very good way to go and the right way since the SPF will not rot, sag, become water logged etc. I have sprayed 1000s of CS in 16 years.

We use hand saws. If you have a lot of trimming you can try different tools that cut wood. Last resort a wire cup on and angle grinder will knock it down. But you will be covered in static charged foam chips.

@@SprayJones I just watched it and you answered my questions and concerns with those systems. I also spoke with my neighbor who was in construction his whole life and cringed when I asked him about the spray in foam systems. He said he wouldn't do it. If anything he said to take the trim off around the windows and get the correct foam spry in a can for windows and stop the leaking of air into the house. I think I'll start there. Again, thank you for you advice.

I finally found another one of your videos talking about wraps with open cell. So my questions is which way I should go. Contractor is saying open cell on walls and close cell on roof and doesn’t want to wrap my house.

There are more wrong ways to do that than right ones, especially if you expect to keep the car a long time in a wet climate. They had some cars in the 1970s (eg. Chevy Vega, VW Beetle) that were notorious for rust in the A-pillars because the foam that was used held water like a sponge, and some closed-cell foam can absorb increasing amounts of water as it ages and gets crumbly. But if you're dealing with an old car and just want to get a few more years out of it, might as well go for it.

A solid wall is in fact better, more to adhere to. We have had people use cardboard in areas where it will not rot away to be a temporary backer for getting SPF in place.

They're wearing PPE because you don't want to breath the unexpanded liquid! Yes, this stuff will off-gas some, but it shouldn't be like a drum of gasoline in the room. (it should cure and be done. however, just like anything else it can be done wrong.)

In my opinion if it contains any form of isocyanate orMDI like they do on cans of consumers spray foam in tiny lettering I would and could not use it . Ask me why I restored a older speed boat outside I injected 2 can of building box store purchased cans of consumer polyurethane expandable foam while wearing an n95 carbon filtered fitted respirator and sealed goggles .I had 6 1/2 inch holes drilled in the sub floor of my 16 foot boat used the supplied plastic straws the application took less than 5 min on the last hole I felt like I could breath jumped out of the boat my eyes were blood shot I was excreting huge amounts of mucus’s I was sick for several days and that was 2017 still have an on going cough.I knew the foam contained MDI aka isocyanates that’s why I wore the paint n95 and I was outside in a breeze above the sides of the boat which is about 3 feet deep . Imagine if some one used that spray in I babies bed room . Many friends of mine had to quit the auto body trade because of isocyanates and its cumulative so one you reach your threshold you can go near the stuff .As a hobby I restore car boats and trucks even sanding or grinding the clear coat releases small amounts of isocyanate so you have to be careful .A good source of info on working with isocyanate hardener was on line by dept of labour for various states under auto body and truck bedliners workers and painters

Lol I don’t like spraying stud cavities nor all the prep and clean up. Dragging hoses around inside get to be a royal pain. SPF roofing has it’s challenges but looking out over a nice smooth foamed and coated roof is extremely satisfying to me
