In this one the boys start spreading manure across the family’s acres. Sawyer shows you around the farm describing the process while Tork and David get the manure spread.
Welcome to it! This’ll Do Farm is a 6th generation family farm located in Southeast Iowa that is run by a father-son duo Tork and Sawyer. Sawyer and Tork are the force behind their family farm taking care of pigs, along with farming the family’s acres. Together, they promote agriculture in a positive light by recording their day-to-day life’s on the farm. Both Tork and Sawyer have a burning desire to grow the farm bigger and bigger and hope to showcase to the world what it takes to be a farmer. Come along for the ride!

Time to prove the poop plan by doing a test plot. You can always tell when someone is spreading because of the country perfume. City people say it smells and I call it country living

What temp do you try to keep your barn at? Since you have to open everything up to help ventilate, I'm sure the outside temp. drops the temp inside your barn quite a bit. I'm over in South Cental Iowa, we're looking at putting up a barn in a couple years and it's going to be me doing it. 4th generation cattle farmer, deciding to switch it up.

@dmc3742
@dmc3742 Жыл бұрын
That's the reason for all the agitation before the pumping starts. It suspends the sludge/solids so it and the liquid can be pumped out together and applied to the field..

A lot of times you’re smelling the agitation process at the barns and not from the applicator. Depending on wind direction and speed you can smell agitation from several miles. If the manure is injected typically it only smells for a couple days right next to the field. Usually a rain eliminates that as well.
@rodger7029
@rodger7029 Жыл бұрын
If it’s injected there should be almost no smell, especially on dry ground

Please tell me that none of that manure goes on to anything other than pig feed production.
@morganottlii2390
@morganottlii2390 Жыл бұрын
What difference does that make? The nutrients go into the soil, and the plants take it up, regardless of what form of application is used.
@satguy
@satguy Жыл бұрын
@@morganottlii2390 This is one reason there are others I suggest you study and find out why it's not a good idea. Oct 7, 2022 Parasites like roundworms (Ascaris suum) live in the pigs' intestines and lay their eggs there, which are then shed in their manure. This specific parasite is highly infectious which is why you should absolutely not use raw pig manure for your edible crops.

@@gallmeyer17 yes, in US. Farmers are just workers. So sad. Here in Scandinavia farmers own their farms and every pig, bolt and wheat straw. They got loans, but responsibility is their. So far, I would hate to see the US system here.
