I actually went back and rewatched this movie a second time just to read the chat on screen because I have a really short attention span and it was hard for me to pay attention to both chat and the movie itself. I'm really glad I took the time to do that because the chat is honestly one of the most realistic depictions of social media I've ever seen in a movie like this and it was a great touch.

Bruh literally every fucking social media app has shit moderation. For example, Facebook has a lot of gore on there and it doesn't get taken down. Instagram is filled with it. The more people we bring into this world, the more people fall into isolation and obscurity. As social animals, everyone wants to be loved and appreciated, but there's just so much competition now. It doesn't shock me that some people who aren't altogether mentally with it resort to drastic measures just to be noticed by a seemingly loveless and uncaring world. This notion isn't helped by how eager anonymous people are to egg them on, just because they can.

I will say that regarding the "viewers can't be this stupid" argument, Etika streamed himself shouting at an entire town and causing a scene. He clearing was not in the right mind and needed help. The comment section didn't believe he was ill at all. When cops were called by the locals, the chat told him they brought snipers, which he believed and started freaking out. After getting detained by the police, the chat was praising him and wishing him luck with his arrest. Not too many months later, Etika took his life due to his illness. I can definitely say that people can be this braindead, sadly...

i feel like the ending portrays this kind of stuff perfectly, not to villainize reddit or 4chan but they seem to have very large communities idolizing horrible people

@@iwakeupandboomimarat oh it doesn't end there look at ted bundy or any famous murderers with good faces on twitter and or tumblr you can see blogs made about them on tumblr where they put flower crowns and filters on their mugshots or any picture they can find or draw them with their victims doing some nasty sexual acts or softcore stuffs

@@hfbnffsdugai3754 oh yeah i shouldve mentioned that in my og comment, tbh a bunch of social media sites that have more anonymity or bad reporting systems usually have a lot of people who idolize real criminals
