Love brown trout fishing because it scratches the itch after a long Wisconsin winter. The action can be super fast and the smaller fish are incredibly tasty. Great insight and video, Russell.

About ready to get my TVA lake winter brown trout trolling program going feb and march. Agree with browns like the top 15 ft in the winter. I've used deep cranks exclusivley and in silver and natural color to match gizzard shad and alweives, but will try the in line weight spoon orange golod spoon combo to see if it works. mini divers are good all year on brown.

So many people talk about light for choosing baits, you don't. In spring we fish a lot of gray days in clear water and instead of just "dark" baits I choose ones that skip shiny and use paint/color for contrast. My best catchers are spoons with painted backs (white, black, violet)- most of which I've painted myself. The Salmon Candy 2 face SG spoon with a white back would be boss! We should think about baits the way you think about fishing reports- It's a starting point and we customize based on what fish tell us.

Only very deep fro lake trout and don’t use a blacks use a Scotty

Great episode! How much line do you let out with the .25 oz in-line sinker, spoon setup? Approx what depth in the water column are you targeting? Seems like you'd have to be pretty careful of snags

Just came on here to ask the very same question. If I’d had to guess, I would have started at 50 ft behind the board. I would have lost a spoon or two. Lol

How about the Hot spot Apex? The 3" is a go to lure here in Denmark for browntrout.

We don't have brown trout around the pier in St Joseph river that dumps in to lake Michigan never got one in the lake and haven't heard of any landed. We have brown trout up river.

Sorry, I hit send to fast. I just haven’t seen a video from you in a while. I enjoy your channel and was looking for reports on brown trout for 2022. Up in Kewaunee we’ve had a odd/slow start. Some guys are getting them out deeper (20’ to 30’). Just seeing if it was the same down by you? Thanks
