You said NOT to use high speed reels. This is the exact opposite of everything I've read which recommends the use of 6:1 ratio (high speed) reels for 10 color. I'm confused now.

I’be been having trouble with the salmon candy boards not pulling to the side very well with even 150 or 200s, it looks like your spread of coppers is pulling out good have you modified them at all? Or adjust the weight?

Hey Russ, I’ve been fishing in the UP of Michigan and fishing is definitely picking up. I have been struggling to get size though. Went out this morning and caught 12 but all but 1 were under 2 pounds. Any ideas why this is and if bigger fish are on their way?

Hi ! Thanks for your time ! I was wondering if there's a big difference in dive curve between say 12# lead core and 36 # ? Why is 27# better than 36 ? And I plan on setting up a rod for fishing lake Superior the first week of October out of Copper Harbor ,and never fished it before in fact never fished salmon or trout before so ANY help would be appreciated !! Thanks again so much for your Time and knowledge knowledge

If weight is a concern, why not replace the beads with a piece of tubing? Dollar Store "Q-Tips" are made with plastic tubes, They are sold in several colors. Cut to desired length, burn the ends to make a "bugle" end, add to the set-up. I'd bet that four 8mm beads weigh more than the difference between a #2 treble and a 1/0 treble.

Couldn’t you just put the release at the back and use one rod to hold the planer board and another rod to the release clip at the back of the board. That way when a fish hits, you are completely free of the board

Hey Russell, some friends and I recently acquired a 21 ft allumicraft that came with 4 down riggers and a mast for 2 big planers we try and follow your setups but were wondering if you had any tips on beat way to set up with the 4 down riggers? We fish out of Milwaukee and will target coho early and kings now that it is starting to get better. Thanks for any advice.

@@RussellsFishingTech thanks for the recommendation, any suggestions on running the big planers off the mast? We typically run different amounts of leadcore off of them to get a wide spread with different depths
