What a realistic fly fishing video----meaning you guys show all the mishaps that can occur when fly fishing on some of your favorite streams----complete with hang-up and near falls---props for including the sounds of nature instead of the of all the loud music one can hear in a lot of fishing videos--keep posting really enjoyed the footage--thanks for sharing

You probably know me than me when it comes to fly selection but if you ever fish new water start fishing a sowbug & san juan,scud & egg, or a egg & midge. I've fished all over southern Missouri both in wild streams and stocked streams and those 3 set ups have always caught me a fish.

Nice guys. For as pounded as Spring creek is, fish still readily feed. That creek is just polluted with 12" browns. When nothing's going on anywhere else, count on paradise. There are some surprisingly big fish in there. My largest Brown has been out of there.

Nice vid gentlemen. Like the editing. Little tip if it helps: if Tippet rings aren't on a safety pin already, look ad them on. Then tie your line on the ring before removing from pin. It allows for quick tying by freeing up both hands while allowing you to apply pressure on the line. Make sure it's the top ring so you don't take others off, lol. Love to hear about how you like the Dryft waders.

Todd H awesome! Thanks for the tip, and the Dryft waders are definitely worth the money, I'd recommend them to anyone, we fish some tough places and they handle the brush great.

Great video guys and truly appreciate how you conduct yourselves on the water and with handling the fish. I just recently took up fly fishing here in south Jersy. There aren't too many good places to trout fish like you guys have so I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions on good locations in PA to start. Not asking you to give up your secret honey holes just good all around spots to catch some trout. Appreciate any reply.
@alleghenynative
@alleghenynative 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support bud! However, on the stream aspect if you type in PA class a streams on google that will give you a whole list of streams. Find the PA county close to you and do some researching! We love new challenges that new water brings and sometimes we just find a piece of water and give it a try and most of the time if it looks good it normally is! Tight lines

I also meant to tell you about some really well known streams like Spring creek, Little Juniata river and pretty much central Pennsylvania in general is a great place to start and learn how to fly fish due to its abundance of trout!

Anthony ... In the Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area, you have several nice limestone spring creeks to hit up. The Little Lehigh in Allentown would be your best bet to start (particularly if you are new to fly-fishing). Look up the Little Lehigh Fly Shop (now called The Heritage Shop). Dave Bittner, who owns the place, is a good guy to talk to. Shop is located in an old spring house right on the banks of the stream. This would be a good place to start. Head upstream and fish the kiddy pool in front of the Queen City Fish Hatchery ... good place to practice. Then venture out from there. The Little Lehigh holds both stocked and wild fish You also have the Saucon in Hellertown. The Monocacy in Bethlehem. Bushkill in Easton. These all hold wild browns. Hope this helps.

do you guy's still set up your sighter line like that? Virtually every other post I have seen has created a taper with decreasing weight maxima rather than using a tapered leader. Any advantages other than price with what you are doing here?

Nope, it was rainy that day but believe it or not thats actually what we like when we fish. The fish tend to feed alot more when it is murky

It is called Indicator Mono, we use the Cortland Indicator Mono .014'' and for a leader we use tapered leaders, either Rio or Orvis, and they are tapered to 5x. And we use Tippet rings to connect it all. Any other questions let us know and Thank You !
@ontheflyoutdoors735
@ontheflyoutdoors735 7 жыл бұрын
Okay thanks. Just a couple more questions... in your other videos when you are using streamers are you just jigging them on a drift ,and do you use just a standard tapered leader with the streamers? Sorry about all the questions just started fly fishing this year.
@alleghenynative
@alleghenynative 7 жыл бұрын
no problem! and on these small streams we have been fishing, yes we pretty must cast them up or down into the run and jig them back. We've found you get more hits bringing it upstream, but the hookset ratio is lower. For a leader and tippet for streamers I would go with 4x or heavier. These small streams 4x is good.
