Spring Dresses + Curating a Spring Bookcase

I welcomed the first official spring weekend with some new floral dresses (ad - gifted from Marie Zelie - see below for discount code) and curated a spring bookcase with some of my favourite titles. Mum also shows how to make her everyday loaf bread (highly requested after my last vlog!), and I open some exciting book parcels. The recipe for the bread is below. Thanks so much for watching!

Mum's Everyday Bread Loaf Recipe
Ingredients for bread:
200g strong white flour
50g strong wholewheat flour
1 dsp yoghurt, mixed with warm water to make 160ml in a jug
1 1/2 tsps sugar
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp easy blend (fast action) dried yeast
Ingredients for topping:
1 tbsp milk
2 tsps oatmeal flakes (optional)
Instructions:
1/ Link a 6" round baking tin with baking parchment.
2/ In food processor, combine dry ingredients; gradually pour in yoghurt and warm water mixture.
3/ Leave processor running for mixture to form a ball and then continue mixing for 3 mins.
4/ Knead dough on clean countertop / surface for a few minutes. Dough should spring back when poked.
5/ Place the ball of dough in oiled bowl and cover with a damp clean cloth and leave in a warm place to rise for 1 - 2 1/2 hrs, until the dough has approximately doubled in size.
6/ Knock back the dough, then turn out of bowl and knead lightly again and form a ball.
7/ Place the ball of dough in the 6" round tin, cover with tea-towel and let rise again for 45 - 90 minutes.
8/ Preheat oven to 200° C / 180° fan oven / 390°F
9/ Once risen again, brush the top of the loaf with milk and scatter with oats.
10/ Bake in oven for for 20-25 minutes, until browned. Turn the loaf out of tin and leave to cool on wire rack.

Hello Miranda. Very enjoyable episode. Your new dresses are stunning and look beautiful on you. Thank you to your mom, Donna, for the bread baking demonstration. It looks delicious. A trick I learned to help bread dough rise in a cold room is to place the covered bowel on a heating pad set on the lowest setting. I hope you don't mind my commenting on your beautiful cross stitch again. Cross stitching is a great passion of mine and I would love to see your progress on your project and to know how you started stitching and when. Thank you.....Crystal.

What a cheerful, uplifting video! It really put a smile on my face. Those dresses are lovely. They remind me of the many floral Laura Ashley dresses I used to love wearing. The "William Morris" dress is my favorite and those slit sleeves are a nice detail. Your arrangement of Spring books inspired me to locate my Folio Society Spring anthology, which I've been paging through just now. Thank you for another lovely video.

So much to enjoy, as always. Love the spring fabrics of the dresses and they both look great on you, Miranda. Will give my breadmaker a rest and try Donna's recipe sometime soon. The GGB book bundles were such an enviable selection. I received a bargain book in the post this morning and I've just spotted the same edition on your seasonal shelves: Miss Read's Country Bunch (it was thrillingly signed by Dora Saint). I love the cover with the spring flowers in the antique jug, a very fashionable theme with artists and illustrators right now! Hope you both have a lovely week!

What a fabulous few days, dresses, sunshine, blossom and books, is there anything more perfect 😍 I’ve been receiving the the GGBP newsletter for a while now and have a number of their books on a wish list; I didn’t realise that they are packed with so much interesting information. Can’t wait to start my collection, my budget over the last couple of months has gone on sooo much fabric, I’ve a lot of dresses waiting to be made! I think April will be all about sewing whilst waiting for a new collection of books to arrive 🤣

well, I've never baked bread and you've certainly tempted me! It looks easy enough for a beginner like me. Let's hope my silly oven behaves! Also, I love the way you curate your bookcase with books showing their covers. It's a lovely way to enjoy them, because all we normally see are just spines, don't we?
