Great video John. I have just this past week started clearing my garden. Fall is upon us here in Pennsylvania. I have used a lot of your techniques and when I removed some of my tomato plants the root systems were incredible. The side ways planted one had roots that were a couple of feet long. It was a good season. Can’t wait to see more videos of you garden. It helps me get through the long cold winter…….

Welcome back John. It is my belief you are one of the best presenters i watch. I’m in northern Vic. I have only become passionate about veggie gardening in the last 12 months. I’m almost 71 years old never to old to start a new hobby. Thanks for all your good advice, I have picked up a lot from you and a few others. Keep up the good work.

Your garden looks sensational John with all the veggies thriving and also the show of Spring flowers. Just want to do more in my garden now!! :) PS: I have secured a 10 panel solar array and will be running both 12 & 240 volts. Not sure at this point how many KW it is as my cousin is bringing it to me and he isn't sure how strong it is; will let you know when I get it.

It's all looking glorious, a credit to your hard work. Hard to believe that things are so far behind here, just a few miles inland and to your east.

Hello from WA. It’s great to see another Australian homesteading channel. I too bought a freezer this year after my first ever crop of broccoli. Thought it was time to start preserving food. And yes, I’m not looking forward to what is shaping up as a hot and dry summer. Cheers

Hey John, I've found Zucchini (or button squash) can be grated and packed flat into zip lock bags. They stack in the freezer, after defrosting you wring out the water and it's better for cooking than fresh Zucchini. (Not as wet) works great for cooking in most dishes, but particularly good for baking cakes, muffins and of course Zucchini slice as it looses more water after being defrosted and squeezed than fresh does..

Hi John, Since you now have a freezer a few other things which freeze really well are broccoli and cauliflower (just blanch them quickly before freezing) as well as mulberries. Mulberries are fantastic as they're so easy to grow and you can toss them into all kinds of things - cereals, yoghurt, salads, smoothies etc. I freeze our excess blueberries and raspberries as well for when they are out of season and super expensive in the shops. Wishing you a successful growing season this year!

Thank you. We do also broccoli short to spread the crop. And will probably also freeze berries this year...if we have enough!

What part of Tassie, do you live in John. I am just wondering, because i want to move there, and am curious, as to where to buy, for best gardening results. Cheers

We live in the central North West coast area. It's a good area for growing. Generally the closer to the sea the warmer it will be.

Yes, watermelons don't like cold...so very hard to get a crop in Tassie. Also what you do get usually comes late (like April!)

@@meganbetts8191 There's a variety of watermelon that was specially bred for cooler climates like ours, called Blacktail Mountain. But they still need to be protected from the cold, and we did have snow last week.
