1955 Allis Chalmers B pulling a 1940's Allis Chalmers #1-16" plow. A common sight in the 1940's and 50's on sub-100 acre farms.

Thanks for sharing this. I have an old black and white photo of my dad, 10 years before I was born, plowing on an Allis-Chalmers B with a similar setup. He was 23 or so. It was just a few months after he returned home from Korea, and he was wearing his Army parka and cap. That B was sold before I was born, but I have one just like it sitting out in my driveway now. I'm kinda proud of my little tractor, and I treasure the photo of my dad plowing. Thanks again for your video.

Remember this quite well from my time in Henry County Ohio in the early 1950's. A man they called the Belgium got an IH Cub [Equivalent to your Allis Chalmers B] to replace his horses. One afternoon we heard a tractor coming down the road from the west, and it was the Belgium on his new IH Cub. Behind him was a wagon with a tongue still meant for his two horses. Remember it well.

I have a 1952 B Allis that my Dad bought somewhere around 1970 . I've completely restored it to like new condition. These little tractors are what pretty much put the horses out to pasture permanently. I take mine out occasionally and give the grand kids rides with a two wheel wagon. Otherwise it's sits in my heated shop. There's no reason way it won't last another 70 years.

I have a 1948 B. Just use it to push and pull trailers. Great small tractors. Good to see a B workin the soil.

Lots of great footage and the B sounds fresh. The matching Allis plow does things to me I can’t comment on. The video effort did not go unnoticed. Well done Randy! Such a great setup.

Great looking Allis Model B tractor Randy, sounds great. I love Allis. Grew up on a farm with a WD45 wide front, my dad still has it, sounds like your B. I just recently bought a C model with a belly mower, narrow front.

Nice B... Excellent video, love how you handled routine maintenance before you went to work. Love it all
@rolandmohler26952 ай бұрын
Just one comment on maintenance. I'm glad to see that you are greasing it. I used to run heavy equipment. I found that if I greased things at the end of the day that the warm metal would allow the grease to flow better. That way I still greased everything before I started each day but it was ready to jump onto at a moments notice.

Great video. Wish I had a plough like that for my B. I notice that most of the B's in the US have silver rear rims which we never had in the UK - looks nice like that. My B is a 1947 model so would have been assembled in the UK from a kit of parts sent over from the US before they were completely manufactured near Manchester.

I can appreciate this fine video and all the extra work it took to make. I'm sure you did a lot of running around setting up the camera,driving past,then running back to get the camera!! 😆 The little old B doesn't disappoint. Looking good and running strong 💪 And as always I'm jealous of your dirt out there!! Looks like the kind you buy in bag!! 😆

My girlfriend and I were laughing at the clips of me jogging back and forth as I was editing it this morning. Haha This is some low ground, we have plenty of yellow sand too!

Thanks for sharing. Nice job. That sound is very familiar, as we used to have the same engine as an Allis Chalmers "Auxiliary Engine" that we could put on our AC Model 60 pull type combine, or our AC forage chopper, or our AC forage blower, or our AC roto baler. You could move it back and forth from one machine to the other. The engine was used to create, in effect, a "live PTO" back in the days before live PTO's had been invented. As mellow as the soil is, and as fast as it appears you are going, you could probably pull a 2 bottom plow, if you were to go down a gear. Little B sounds "strong"!

I have pulled 2-14's in this same field in the same gear. The plow in the video is a 16" and I would say it pulls just about as hard as the two bottom John Deere did.

I believe my b to be a 1938. Originally crank only. Traded transmission out for a 50s with starter bell housing. Still runs like a top. Very impressed with your machine. Plows nice. 2nd gear ? It’s between 10 and 14 hp ? Thanks
@Randys_Relics Жыл бұрын
Yes, second gear. It makes 22 HP on a PTO Dyno.

Northwestern Ohio. There is plenty of yellow sand on this farm, this is some low lying ground.
