Hi sir I'm a new subscriber to your channel, and I love what you do, I'm glad I stumbled on your channel, I would like to advise you on the kilkerran 12year old you tryed, I have a full bottle of the 12year left, I also bought a bottle of the 16 year old as well, don't waste your money on the 16 because it is not as good as the 12year and it's alot more money, I watched your video on whiskeys under $100.00,great video,I have many of those as well, I have all of the springbanks up too the 18year year old, 15but I can't afford the more expensive 21year and on up. I was late to the Springbank party, well after prices took off. But finally found a bottle of the 10 for $98 - It is really, really good. Not sure it’s worth $100 but I can see what the fuss is about. And it’s different too…nothing else I’ve tried is quite like it. Unique profile.

Thank you for the very good tasting notes and for downplaying the cliche of “funk”. It’s something I’ve never detected in any of the three Springbank marques, and I’ve been drinking them all for more than 30 years. I see this video was posted almost a year ago - if you still have any of that bottle left I bet it has improved. Springbank needs ages to oxidise and the change is an impression of great depth. Great to see a reviewer adding water too 👍 The only bad thing about Springbank is how hard it is to find a bottle now, and how expensive it is when you do. I remember when I could walk into my nearest liquor store and pick up a bottle of Springer 10 any time at a good price. No longer 🙁

Howdy! Good luck with the channel. Nice review 👍 Springbank 10 isn't the "Best" 10yo IMHO, it's just really good and really hot at the moment. My favorite 10yo would be Port Charlotte 10 or Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, but those are much more heavily-peated. So that being the case, and with Springbank 10 going for ~$100+ (I've seen it for $170 in Brooklyn), better value bottles with similar profiles to Springbank 10 would be: Loch Lomond 12 (~$35), Benromach 10 (~$40), Craigellachie 13 (~$50), and Loch Lomond 18 (~$70) ✌️

This is a brilliant review. I like the way you approached this whisky in 3 different ways/stages (i.e. pour and taste neat, pour- set aside- and taste neat, and pour- add a couple drops of water- taste). I do it the exact same way myself sometimes and it’s interesting to see and detect the nuanced differences of each stage/approach. I’ve just subscribed to your channel too despite already following a dozen or so of other whiskytubers.

Really indepth review of one of the most talked about drams. Nice to see a few different ways to approach the glass as each whisky does best in different situations. I personally am yet to truly fall in love with Springbank but it could be the struggles of getting a bottle which has left a slight off taste in the mouth. Looking forward to watching more. Cheers.

Good review. It's great to hear your take on a whisky like this but there are a number of reviews of it out there. As a long time commentator on whisky channels I would advise keeping your videos at a shorter length. It's your channel so you can do what you want but there are a lot of folk out there subscribed to so much stuff that long videos become problematic. I watch some long ones but they are long established and once a week sort of thing. Keep them coming but keep them on point. I'm often asked to start reviewing and I'm known for my long comments so goodness knows what my reviews would be like. I'm very fond of Springbank 10 and I was buying it before the hype. It's not worth the hype in my opinion. WT

So...Last year, for my 70th birthday, I purchased a Hazelburn 10, a Springbank 10, and a Springbank 15. Recently, my friends and I, broke the bottles out again after a year, and tried them all with both time and water. The HB10 was recieved well, but noted how other whiskies did as well. Then, the SB10, was sampled, and found to still be wanting in favorable flavors by all tasters...'meh' was the overall response. The SB15 performed better, but when apprised of the price, the chorus was that it was nowhere near that good...all would buy two bottles of Benro15 before they put down that kind of money for a SB15.
