Hi Pete, thanks for yet another good knife review. You had mentioned your arm in some previous video; if i could give you an advice.. Instead of sitting down when doing the rope cutting test, you could try to do it standing up with your cutting surface at a good hight. This is alot more ergonomic position, and will allow you to use your weight and leverage more than forcing your arm and shoulder. The hight of you bench or cutting area you have to experiment with, depending on your height and length of arm. This should take care of future problems. Wish you the best, looking forward to see more of your videos. Take care

It’s designed for the off-shore sailor, fisherman, or very corrosive environments, and while wearing gloves. Thanks for showing the handle ridges which are impossible to see in the marketing ads. Great review. I’ll still take the Spydiechef....hands down.

I just got my Caribbean after twenty-plus years of having to sharpen my Atlantic H1 Salt every time I wanted to use it. I have lived on a sailboat for forty-seven years, buying new knives and sharing the H1 steel. An eight-hour test is nothing. Try eighteen months in salt water.
@colinohare9837
@colinohare9837 6 жыл бұрын
If you live on the Atlantic Ocean like I do the salinity level in the Atlantic vs Pacific will cause LC200N to rust at some point or another if it’s being exposed to regular submersion in Atlantic sea water. If you aren’t taking the knife out on the water all the time the LC200N is probably better than H1 because of edge retention, but as a designated kayak fishing knife I like the pacific/atlantic salt series.

Knife geek comment, that PM2 blade is neither a drop point (convex on top at tip), or a clip point (concave on top at tip). Not really sure what it is. Anyway, thanks for a very good reveiw of this Salt.

Its kind of a pain but on knives that have the edge right to the handle and you can't get it all with the kme I take the handle right off the blade and clamp only the blade. It may be over kill but if you want to get every last bit that's an option

Was shocked to hear that this beat out the PM2 in your estimation. Love the premise of this knife but I think the lack of choil would drive me nuts. Either that or I would just have to freehand sharpen only for the Caribbean.
@mihaidragnea9785
@mihaidragnea9785 Жыл бұрын
For me that's what made it better. (It's been 4 years...) to me the choil is pretty useless and because of it you are very far away from the blade in a normal grip so you are forced to use the choil. Also because of the choil it has a worse blade-handle ratio.

I just got one myself and I have to agree that sharpening it without messing up the handle will be a challenge for sure. Maybe this is one I just send back to Spyderco to sharpen it for me. I would love to keep the warranty intact if possible. I know if you take the blade out you could sharpen it just fine but that is risky with those screws IMO.

you have to make a sharpening choil for all spyderco's. or just deal with that or just send it to spyderco to sharpen it on there belt grinders. also 99% of the time the compression lock never closes and catches the first time. or it bounces off the stop pin and pops out. rather annoying lock feature.
