The delica is the best spyderco knife! Not too expensive so it can be used on the daily, and perfectly ergonomic.

That is a real pretty purple on that knife. It looks like your friend gets a lot of use on that knife, proof that those knives can take a beating and come back for more! Thanks amigo!

Thanks Peter! I kinda cheated with the Work Sharp but there’s really no point giving the edge the full treatment for a farm knife. Have a great weekend Peter!!!

Really awesome you helped someone clean and repair a blade! It’s always rewarding to see so much love put into knives you’ve gifted. I recently had to do something similar for a buddy, I like that you provided this content. I hope I get to also see disassemblies on your channel. I really appreciate your calm demeanor, your content is so awesomely chill! 🤙🏽

Great job on the clean up. Just recently got one of these and am really enjoying it. Had to loctite the pivot and give it a slight sharpening but overall a pretty good knife. Glad to see some maintenance tips. Great video 👍

Good job & as someone who has worked on a farm, I'm surprised it was so clean! ~ LoL P.S. - It almost looked as though the tip had electrical wire "weld" spot discoloration.

I have a delica 4 and out of the box, it was smooth but it recently got really gritty and stiff to deploy both spydy flick or just opening slowly with my thumb. I dissembled it completely and cleaned everything I could see gunk on, my thoughts is its the lock bar riding but even with lube, albeit thin lube, it doesn't make much of a difference. Any ideas?
@theedcden5515 Жыл бұрын
Hey Richard I find that it can be tough to find the “sweet spot” for the pivot screw. You can easily over or under tighten which results in stiff or loose action. Try making micro adjustments to the pivot and if you find the sweet spot then add some loctite to keep it in place. May or may not be a solution, good luck! 👍🤙

Good morning! What is the compressed air machine that you show in the video 4:37? Beautiful cleaning anyway!!
@theedcden551511 ай бұрын
Good morning! That was simply a can of compressed air that’s usually used for electronics like keyboards and computers, any computer shop will sell it 👍

A used Delica 4 recently tempted me, but it's part of a lot with two other knives I'm not sure I'd want. You did a nice job getting that one looking and working better! As I have a knife that could use a good cleaning, I gotta ask: about what temperature was the water?
@theedcden55153 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan! Hot water helps dissolve the dirt and grime..so I’d say let it soak in hot water (not boiling, just hot water from a tap). Then start scrubbing once your hands can tolerate the temperature. Good luck buddy 👍🤙

Rem oil and compressed air would work great and you wouldn't have to worry about it rusting .

Looks like the blade still had the factory edge after all this time. That is pretty good blade steel if it is. There is a lot to be said about how the steel is made and the grind of the blade. Often this makes a serious difference in performance of the knife. Just because someone makes a knife with a high end steel doesn’t always mean it is better. It has a lot to do with blade design and shape. I believe thin blades just cut better than thick ones most times. Spyderco knives never were beauty queens they just cut and last a long time.

Well said Gizmo. I’m hoping my farmer friend will exercise some maintenance going forward. We shall see! Maybe the same knife will make another appearance on the channel someday. Take care Gizmo 👍🤙
