Square-1 World Record Single: 3.41 Seconds

"I always knew this was possible, but never expected it to actually happen..." again...
This one was even more absurd than my last world record 9 months ago. 2 slices to U perm - 10 slice solution. Probably one of the most ridiculous scrambles to have ever been generated (thanks Dan).
This scramble had the potential to destroy this event, potential to stand for at least a decade, perhaps longer...
But no, I choked, and that's okay. I tried to 1look it but I wasn't mentally focused enough to do so. I knew the bottom layer would be solved after OBL but that's about it. My execution wasn't good, but I'm so relieved to have at least broken WR given the immense pressure of such an easy scramble.
Eventually someone will break the sub-3 barrier and beyond, given the right circumstances. This just leaves the door open for more people to have a shot at WR.
And of all people to be the first to have multiple sub-4s, I don't think anyone expected it to be me...

GOAT SCRAMBLE XD That's probably the first WR single with a major lockup... could have easily be sub-3 but congrats either way! I still think even if sub-3 was achieved the event is still not destroyed, it would push ppl to get closer and closer like how Yusheng Du's 3.47 before :)

So I open WCA live on Saturday afternoon to check some of my results for the day, and proceed to get a very sudden (figurative) slap in the face at the sight of this near the bottom. CONGRATS RYAN good job on not doing the wrong u perm or forgetting to abf or doing obl wrong and having to do M2 or something idk the easier the scramble the more likely the choke and the lockup was so painful to watch but you are a skilled solver of the square-1 puzzle which is required of such a title holder which you currently hold due to your immense skill in the puzzle and I’m not surprised you didn’t choke this scramble because you’re a little bit a lotta bit crazy but this was quite a humorous watch and I’m very proud of you ok bye thank you for coming to my ted talk ily🔥💪🙏🫶🏻

this is the first wr where the solver hated the solution i agree as a sub 10 square one solver this scramble coudlve been a 275 ,maybe a 250 if it was done by someone faster like max, sameer, and hassan
