Back with Theo at 5.5 Weeks where we are focusing in on his squat.
We are aiming for good alignment of his knee over his foot: in his case he will need to increase his hip strength and external rotation control just as much as his knee to stop it rolling in. The band helps well with this, as well as putting him on a BOSU for instability training. He also has to work on 50/50 weight shift and not loading the good leg too much.
The banded RDL helps teach him lumbar stability and hip hinging along with the much needed hamstring strengthening following the graft surgery. Theo has never really done deadlifts before so he is doing well with the technique over the last week - but he will need to focus on each rep and set for a long time to ingrain that motor programming that some of us take for granted.
We also work on single leg training with the BOSU balance and the step down toe taps in preparing for more single leg squat work coming up in the next few weeks.
Stay tuned for Week 7 coming up!

Probably the best breakdown of exercises and identifying the weak points. Great set of videos man. Will incorporate them in my recovery protocol as well, currently 6 weeks into the surgery, doing good so far.

Hi Tim, I damaged my knee playing rugby 18 months ago. I have had a scan and I will attach the findings below. In short, the Dr said they could operate but won’t as I’ll need a full need replacement in a few years any. I can still play rugby with some discomfort but I get by. What I am missing is the power in my leg. I can’t hop easily and when I squat I favour my left leg over my right. What exercises should I be doing to get that strength and stability back. Thanks in advance. Findings: A complex a circumferential tear of the lateral meniscus. Medial meniscus, cruciate and collateral ligaments and quadriceps mechanism appear intact. Advanced osteoarthritis of the lateral tibiofemoral joint with full-thickness cartilage deficiency mid articular surfaces. Medial tibiofemoral and patellar cartilage appears intact. Trochlear chondropathy with full-thickness cartilage loss lower lateral surface and focal reactive subarticular marrow signal change and lamination of the cartilage medially. Joint effusion. Conclusion: Osteoarthritis of the lateral compartment and degenerative tear of the lateral meniscus. Trochlear chondropathy. Joint effusion.

Just buy a well cushioned high stacked shoe, you can't run well with a bosu ball. (just been goofy :) don't mind me)
