Stenhouse Bay Jetty, Yorke Peninsula is a very picturesque historic location and is a popular place to go fishing and squidding. We visited on a sunny Autumn day and we were the only ones on the jetty, probably because it was a weekday. There was a bit of seaweed about, and the water was murky, but the squid were there. We could see the squid in the water, but they were not interested in our squid jigs. We tried whole salted pilchard on squid jigs, and also squid jigs in a range of colours. Eventually Martin caught two squid, which we were very happy about - one on a white squid jig and one on a blue squid jig. I caught a leatherjacket which was a first for me, but I released it even though I have heard people eat them. That night we had salt and pepper squid for dinner at the campsite, and it was delicious.
Stenhouse Bay Jetty is a historic site within the Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park (Innes National Park). There used to be works there for the quarrying and exporting of rock gypsum. Some of the historic remains can still be seen there.

Amazing once again guys! One of my absolute favourite places. Caught many different species there! Lures and plastics work a treat for tommies. And yes dusk and dawn is the best times. Enjoy your amazing catch! 😊

Unfortunately I’ve been busy with work. Before Christmas fished a lot landbased and always came home with my garfish quota. Will be hitting the southern beaches hopefully real soon! Keep up the good work Linda and Martin!

What a nice jetty. We always go wherever weekdays and avoid school holidays. We use the aluminium chairs too and they fit nicely in the fishing cart.

Another great video guys! I've never been to Stenhouse Bay. It certainly looks worth a try. I'm surprised you don't use a tommy under a float set up for squid. I have found that the squid are less shy about grabbing a fresh, sweet smelling tommy. It's what I call 'the lazy way' to squid lol. Next time, don't throw the leatherjacket back, my mum loves leatherjackets! I totally agree with Martin, when he said that most people expect to catch fish straight away, and leave within an hour. Sometimes you have to wait all day before the fish suddenly come on the bight. To be honest, I like the fact that other people are impatient, otherwise fishing spots would be crowded all the time. Anyway, thanks again for entertaining us with your adventures!

Thanks! Actually I can't remember if we tried the whole pillie under a float that day. I don't think we did..we probably would have caught more 😉. Funny but I bought leatherjacket from Coles recently and it was hard eork to prepare but tasted really good. Next time I will hang on to it for sure 😀

@@fishingsister Fresh leather jacket is a great tasting fish and a breeze to prepare . De barb imediately then from the top cut directly behind the head about half way through the body then just pull the head down and off. All the guts will come out with the head then from the top grab skin on one side and peel towards tail repeat and job done. Once you get the knack takes about a minute

Will try that! Maybe not on camera lol but then again it might be pretty funny..

@@fishingsister When cutting the head off only cut through the back bone down until the top of the stomach cavity you will feel the resistance stop . Bend the head down and pull towards anal fin.. This way guts remain attached to head and will leave the stomach cavity totally clean . The quicker you can clean a leathery after capture the easier you will find the skin will peel..
