Awesome video, TJ. There's not enough content on these SRAM Wireless Blips so your video is a huge help. The hack you mentioned actually goes a step further. Once you've paired the Wireless Blips to your derailleurs you don't need the Blipbox or GX shifter anymore. You only need them for the initial pairing. I did this for my TT bike and borrowed my bike shop's AXS shifter lever for the initial pairing and the Blips work without them now like a charm!

Im planning to put Sram Rival ads on my hybrid bike. It's got 105 atm. Can I buy these 2 blips and put them on the handlebar? Are 2 blips enough to have front and rear shifting?

You only need a shifter/blip box for the initial setup. I run wireless blips on my tri bike without any other shifter. Simply placed my tri bike next to my road bike and used that shifter for the setup process. If you don't have a road shifter simply find someone who does or buy a crashed shifter from 2nd hand markets as long as the electronics work. 30 seconds and everything is setup. Also SRAM have released STLs for 3 different styles of blip holders for the ends of skis that you can 3d print. Easily the best system for easily setting up tri bikes. No need to re-run any wires if you are trying different extensions etc.

So i could just use a buddies Sram AXS shifter for the initial setup, then just disconnect them afterwards and run only blips???

@@iso0ok yes but supposedly with the latest SRAM firmware update you don't even need the the donor shifter anymore.

Hello, there is no need to carry the Blipbox with you if the wireless Blips are already connected! Best regards

True, I can think of one scenario it might be nice to have shift controller on board... if the wireless blip battery dies. The app should tell you battery life, so you'll know when that one gets close to failure though. One of the big reasons I'm going from 1x etap to 1x AXS is to drop the controller and wires after I pair up the wireless blips.

Awesome advice !!, I was thinking about using a mountain bike shifter for my tt setup👍😬, question: can I just use the mountain shifter up front on the aero bars (I don’t use shifters on base bar)? So basically all I would need is the shifter and rear derailleur? Thanks

Hi. Thanks for the video. May I mount 2 pairs of blips to use in a 1x? Like 1 pair in the aerobars and the other on the handlebars? I'm strongly thinking in convert my TT gears in 1x, since I almost don´t use the small chainring.

GP lama said you only needed the brain to sync it originally, if he’s right you can use any sram road shifter to sync it originally. I went with clics and blip box cause I didn’t want to wait for it to come out when I built my bike in the spring

hey TJ! are you aware of any new hacks for 2024? im going to go ahead with a 1x and therefore going to buy a rear derailleur, mtb shifter ands blips/clicks, am I missing anything?
@TheoTollakson
@TheoTollakson 6 ай бұрын
Just remember, you only need the MTB shifter to pair the wireless blips to the derailleur. You do not need the shifter to operate the blips.

You can have more gearing than a 53/39 11-28 cassette with a SRAM 12 speed 1x system. I made a video discussing the 1x drivetrain and go over all the math.

They have internal non-replaceable/rechargeable batteries, something like a CR2032 probably. I'm going to guess one could crack one open and replace it but TBD and the official SRAM statement is they are non-serviceable parts and should last most of us years.
@chadwells7562
@chadwells7562 Жыл бұрын
@@tri4autism I’d say there’s a 99% chance it’s a CR2032, or a similar common watch cell. I’m positive I could find a way to open it up. I’m not paying them $200 more after 1 year to replace $2 worth of watch cell batteries 😂

@@thedownunderverse 4 years is damned good if accurate. It’s probably not hard to replace the batteries per se, just that it probably potentially compromises waterproofing etc so they recommend chucking them

@@chadwells7562 people report they’re yet to need to replace coin cell batteries in gen-1 etap shifters.. they last a very, very long time. The blips would be far bigger/bulkier if the batteries were replaceable or rechargeable
