This Sri Lankan side was amazing. There were some really aggressive and technically sound batsmen. There were pacers like Vaas and Zoysa while spinners like Upul Chandana and Murali. And they had some handy allrounders like Jayasuriya and Russell Arnold. Edit : Forgot to mention their exceptionally good fielding and the fast hands of Kaluwitharana behind the stumps.

Well.. the true story is not in this highlight package. At least 13 lbw decisions went in the favour of Kaluwitharana alone. He was purposefully defending with his pads and the Lankan umps were cheating plainly. This is the same series where Kaluwitharana ran out Gilchrist without collecting the ball, but the third umps gave him out

This SriLankan team was the only team to beat the mighty aussies, 1996 WC final and then Aiwa cup 1999. They were the only team at that time i think australians were afraid of playing. Had there been sensible batting in WC 2003 SF who knows Sri Lanka might have lifted 2003 WC as well.

I remember watching this match, Jayasuriya desperately waited for Kaluwitharana to make his century but he was simply wasting the balls. Jayasuriya lost his patience in the end and finished the kill in one over by hitting three boundaries.
