this video make me cry. First thing you are promising man. At the bigining soon you enter the buzzar you tell the man you come back for jack fruit. So at the end as you promise you went to him and make a business with him. Not only that your kind heart donate bit by bit to most of the sellers. Not a big amount to one person. Spred bit by bit to most of them, what a kind hearted person you are.

Mr. Gunapala the jackfruit vendor want to say 50/- instead he said 15 and you took it as 150/- That’s why he took change 450/- back to you! Jack fruit is eaten at many stages of the fruit's growth (Baby fruit to super ripe). It's generally made into different types of curries, depending on the type of jack fruit before it's ripe. The old man had little mounds of jack fruit seeds that are super nutritious (people used to say that three seeds have the nutrients equal to an egg). If you want it ripe and sweet, you have to get either 'varaka' or 'vala varaka'. 'Varaka' is the ripe fruit, but not too ripe (most people's favourite as a dessert). 'Vala varaka' is super ripe and mushy, and a few people like it this way. The jack fruit you bought isn't ripe and is sold for making curries, unfortunately. Next time ask for 'varaka', that's the one you enjoyed at one bazaar.

The ring you saw at 35:53 is called a ‘nawarathna ring’ that’s specially made with 9 different gem stones. If you’d like to collect a souvenir from Sri Lanka , I’d suggest you buy this ring from a jewellery shop. You can either get it made out of Silver or Gold as you wish.

Dabal [Name similar to Dambulla town ]= Winged beans Pathola = Sanake gourd.That name was given to it because it looks like a small snake. We use word "machan" for younger people like mate in English.When you speak with elders you can use words like "ayya" [someone young but older than you]." "Uncle or mama " with elders.

30:34 was jackfruit seeds. we cook them in SL. and the jackfruit you bought was baby jackfruit(unripe) you can't eat it raw, you have to cook it.

Hi Davud, I saw couple of your videos. I am so impressed the way you shop around and get the actual local price of the vegetables or any item you are buying. Once you know the actual local market price, then you reward the seller or the service provider (Haircut from Haputale/ Hoppers Breakfast) bigger tips to make them feel very happy. Very kind hearted gesture, you will live longer brother.

25 : 35 it is winged bean. I grow them in my backyard. Its flowers can be used in salads, tubers can be eaten raw or cooked, seeds can be used in similar ways as the soybean.

Those bean-like things at the jackfruit man are the seeds of the jackfruit. You can boil them with salt and chili and eat like boiled peanuts. Very tasty.
