Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation Museum

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), formerly Radio Ceylon, is the oldest radio station in South Asia, and was founded as Colombo Radio in 1925. Edward Harper who was then the Chief Engineer at the Telegraph Department in 1921, was the first person who initiated experimental broadcasts in Ceylon.

My father used to listen Radio Ceylon in 1971.I was student of class 6.My father is not now but I listen Purani filmon ka sangeet till now.I like Radio Ceylon.Aadaab to all viewers.

Not a single day passed without listening to then Radio - SLBC. My best childhood memories....and....similarly the inviting tuning of national anthem of Sri Lanka. I still love Sri Lanka and it's people. Hope...it flourishes again with peace, wealth and health. Regards from AP, India.

रेडियो सीलोन के साथ बिताया वो 1959 से 1975 तक समय ,आह , क्या बात थी, रेडियो सीलोन सुनते सुनते वो बचपन से जवानी की दहलीज पर पैर रखते हुए, समय कहाँ पंख लगा के उड़ गया पता ही नहीं चला। घर मे 1970 में टेलीविज़न क्या आया, रेडियो सीलोन का साथ धीरे धीरे छूटता चला गया लेकिन आज भी एक टीस सी बाकी है । बिनाका गीत माला का प्रति बुधवार रात 8 से 9 बजे तक प्रसारित होने वाला प्रोग्राम भुलाए नहीं भूलता । हालांकि अब कंप्यूटर-पेन-ड्राइव में हज़ारों गीतों की कलेक्शन मेरे पास इन्हें गाहे-बगाहे सुनने के लिए मौजूद है लेकिन मोबाइल पर रेडियो सीलोन को सुनने का मोह छूट नहीं पाता, काश उन पुराने दिनों में लौट चलने का कोई रास्ता सुझा पता । अशोक सोनी अमृतसर पंजाब भारत

1883 के बाद मैने भी बहुत सुना है ऐसा रेडियो स्टेशन न कभी कोई हुआ है न होगा । बचपन के दिन बहुत याद आते है।

Priyaji, a nice presentation of music playing,recording and broadcasting equipments. But behind all these is the creative and dedicated staff of Radio Ceylone (later on the SLBC) whose labour has made it dearest of all ages music lovers of all ages. Long live my dear SLBC

The SLBC historical Objects are very invaluable. I suggest that specialized conservation and maintenance techniiques be applied for longer National Heritage and Legacy purposes. Good luck as I continue to follow RADIO CEYLON since 1960s from Rainbow MAURITIUS. 🙏👍❤💙💛💚.

Nice one. This was the dream of Mr. Hudson Samarsinghe. I had visitted to SLBC on the kind invitation of authority of SLBC in Sept. 10. This was 4 days visit for detailing my various points for how to revive if Hindi Session and strengthen. I had also been sent to Trinkomali for visit to look SHORT WAVE transmiter. I have met to than HE, Mr Mahinda Rajpakse at Temple Tree. My wonder book on 133 Wonders of Radio Ceyon, Hindi was presented to HE. He was very happy to notice my wonder efforts.

I had been to SLBC on there invitation on 11th Sept, 2013. Our visit was for 5 days. During there was 2 session meeting with the Board of Director of SLBC. Than Director General was S. Welliveria. 3 time discussion with than Chairman Mr. Hudson Samarasinghe. We were very much happy to see the grammaphon record library of Hindi. Similarly the English & Tamil library. 2 programmes on my radio interview and of rare filmy songs were broadcasted. Still I have great memories of my interaction with Presenter Madam Jyoti Parmar, Padmini Parera, Nalini Parera, Kanchanmala, & Suhasini De'silva, Librarian. Whenever you have opportunity, you may give my best regards. You are aware that the Hindi Broadcast have completed its 71 years of golden broadcasting. SLBC have the biggest Hindi filmy n non filmy song collection in the world. It has thousands of rare collections which has not even with our country broadcasting ALL INDIA RADIO. .... Is this the place wherefrom I used to hear "YE SRI LANKA BROADCASTING CORPORATION KA VIDESH VIBHAG HAI" ? This reminds me of childhood days when my Uncle used to tune Radio Ceylon (with great difficulty) to hear Binaca Geetmala and other programmes. For better reception one has to take transistor to roof or in alignment with Short Waves. Wo bhi kya din the...

The introduction of the displayed equipment/machine can not read as the movement of camera is too fast. May re shoot with hi-tech camera with introduction of displayed items.
