St Aidan & Holy Island, Lindisfarne - Celtic Church History | Episode 3 | Lineage

In episode 3, we explore the work of St Aidan. By the request of King Oswald of Northumbria, he travelled from Iona, Scotland to Lindisfarne, also known as the Holy Island. St Aidan set up his training school here and made this the base of mission operations in England, in the 7th century. St Aidan was succeeded by Finan, who set up a training school in Essex. Finan was then succeeded by Colman. These three men would convert almost three quarters of England in under 50 years. Collectively, they did for England, what St Columba did for Scotland.

utterly brilliant, this should have at least 144.000 likes :) im from a seaside village in Northumberland called "Newbiggin by the sea" this village has a long history and some fascinating folk lores i live in Nottingham now and this city is steeped in history too great vids btw God bless your work and ministry

through the Lineage series I discovered a wonderful book about this topic, it is called Truth Triumphant by Benjamin Wilkinson. A real gem about the history of the remnant church through the centuries since the apostles. Thank you Lineage Journey for bringing this to life and raising our awareness, especially in these times and this year.

I need that too. Especially the last few words of this guy made me feel so convicted. As if I had not done enough. And maybe it's true, maybe I have done too less for His glory in these last 4½ years of being a Christian.

Why call such places 'training centres'. They were monasteries. Have you got something against monasteries? (I noticed this on your video about the Iona monastery too.)

I can imagine that monasteries at that day and age were primarily for praying, religious studies and copying scripture. But because they were also learning about farming and working in the fields and teaching other people, they called it "training centre".

There are many Adventist young peoples from the Brazil who loves this series and in their names I would like to ask for legend in portuguese. this way, a lots of people who speak portuguese will be able to be reached for this truth. Há muitos jovens adventistas do Brasil que gostam deste serie. E em nome deles I gostaria de pedir por legenda em portugues. Desta forma, muitas pessoas que falam portugues poderão ser alcançadas por esta verdade.
