I also talk about mowing height for St Augustine grass. I also provide some suggestions for weed control in St Augustine grass. As a side note, I really love the look and feel of St Augustine Grass. I have some in my lawn in areas that don't get full sun. It spreads quickly and will tolerate lower levels of sunlight than bermuda grass lawns #lawncarelife #staugustinegrass

I do 2 apps of 15-5-10 on my Texas St. Aug. And i do 2 apps of 4-3-0 organic fert. MSM Turf works good on most of the weeds and doesn’t damage the grass. I enjoy having St.Aug. Looks great when if you maintain it right. Having irrigation is important. It likes water lol

It's been St. Insectistine for me this year, love hate relationship. Insect pressures have been high in Central FL this year. Really good grass when there are no issues, but really tough to take care of when you're having problems...I guess the same is true for all grasses though. It's particularly tough for weed control...use a pre emergent but for crabgrass, there's nothing to apply that won't badly injure St. Augustine.for post emergent control, unless you catch it early enough. I literally pull crabgrass by hand as soon as I see it or notice seed heads. Our pre emergent in FL doesn't hold as long with a more loam/sandy type soil.

I'm from Sydney Australia, love your work. Our soil temps don't drop lower than 50 and most of our weeds appear in winter, is it OK to apply the change up & manor combo during those temps?

I’m in Florence SC. I am building a home on 5 acres but will only be really cutting and maintaining around 2.5 of it. We mainly have centipede around here but I really like the look of st Augustine and Bermuda. We won’t be sodding the whole yard, maybe will throw pieces of sod randomly like you did on your yard or possibly seeding it. We won’t have an irrigation system for now. What grass type do you suggest/is your favorite? Thanks!

I live on a barrier island in central Florida and most if not all of the cities here forbid fertilizing from memorial day until the end of September for fear of too many nutrients winding up in the lagoons. Is there a super slow release fertilizer that will help me get through the 4 months?

I am in Central fl, uses a Company for weed management on my St Augustine crabgrass is getting out of control. I hate the notion of growing grass too much Chem, but hoa wants aesthetics.

I’m in northwest Al. I’ve always wanted st. Augustine grass but it’s hard to find here . Where could I get some?

Not sure. I guess you have to check with local sod farms. I am just north if Birmingham and we have it here at a local place. You may be a little far north for st. Augustine. It could get damaged in the winter

@@lawncarelife well that’s what everyone around here says but i cut yrds and ice cut several that has st augustine and they look great i love cutting them just no sod farms around here have it . it’s only Bermuda or zoysia well thanks . i enjoy ur videos by the way very helpful..

St augustine is all through North mississippi,,I have some in my lawn that I'm trying to kill it out for bermuda

@@jackderaway no it's spreads here in Mississippi like crazy(my neighbors yard has it)... my yard (2 acers)is a old field so I started with bihalia grass, St. Aug., dallasgrass and goosegrass all in it and 2 small spots of bermuda(maybe 10 foot circles) with helpful advice from Jason and others on youtube i have killed off the old weeds and probably quadruple if not more the size of the bermuda..alot older yards around here that aren't sodded are primarily mixture of carpet grass, bihalia and st. Augustine

@@ethanbrazile6934 yeah that’s what my yard is. Been trying to get rid of the carpet and bahia. I used atrazine. I’ve used three ways. Thinking of trying msm but it doesn’t kill carpet so maybe Celsius but it doesn’t help with my yellow nutsedge or Killinga. So maybe spike the Celsius with Sulfentrazone or sedgehammer.

And yes I have major goose grass Dallis grass and crabgrass issues as well. I bought my home when it was too late for prodiamine. So this first year is becoming a battle. It looks good tho.

That’s not necessarily true. You can cut at almost any height and still have great color. Healthy grass will do fine cut lower. My St Augustine is reel mowed 0.386. Look me up
