The song of St. Francis from the movie "Brother Sun, Sister Moon"

Last night this movie saved me. Netflix had recommended a movie about a woman who was demonically possessed. I started watching it and started to get depressed. Then out of nowhere I shut it off and remembered that I owned Brother Sun Sister Moon, but hadn't seen it in years. I started watching it instead and soon I found myself crying and sobbing. The purity, innocence, light, and beauty of this movie lifted my spirit and I was overwhelmed with a great joy. I feel better today than I have in months. We are being bombarded 24/7 with fear and the demonically possessed are everywhere in MSM, government, and the arts. I will no longer participate in their dark game and brainwashing. I am changing the type of movies I watch and what type of music I listen. I just bought the soundtrack to this wonderful film and am listening to Donovan sing the beautiful songs he wrote for this film. We will get through this folks. Focus on light, not darkness and you will see a BIG change in your life.

Franchesco is actually the most mystical person in Christian World after Jesus. He came as a second Jesus to change the medieval world which was in serious crisis. Many call him a 13th Apostle of Christ. So his influence even via movies is really mystical and strong too. We will need him always as we need Jesus in our souls. God bless!

Thank you for sharing that. It's hard for me to always see the good, as I tend to be melancholic, but you are right. We have a hope. And even if we don't know where things are going or why things change, He is unchanging. "Why art thou so heavy o my soul, and why art thou so disquieted within me? O put thy trust in God, for I will yet give him thanks, which is the help of my countenance, and my God." -Psalm 43: 5-6.

I wish humans will always be simple like this. Why so competitive, and ending up destroying the environment and tarnish humanity? It's also happening in churches, everyone trying to be better than the other, rather than supporting each other in sincere prayer.

One thing this movie truly captured was the immense freedom Francis felt when he followed the steps of Christ and chose the simplicity of life over the material one. I can say that it was Francis of Assisi that first showed me God and Christ in a way that made it understandable as a child. This movie really made me interested in Francis of Assisi, and Francis led me to better understand God.

It really makes me tear up so much at 2:42 I can really see when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ calls out to St. Francis to follow Him. Just like He did with His Apostles. I can seriously hear Jesus Christ telling Francis "Follow me, Francis". So beautiful and powerful. A powerful reminder that God can call us to follow Him through anything and even in the most humblest of things in our own lives. We just have to be willing to listen.

❤St. Francis of Assisi: Make me an instrument of your peace Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. ❤❤❤❤

This movie has been one of the pivotal moments in my life. By it, I didn't become a monk or join the Catholic Church, but I gained a perspective of our Lord's influence on all things right and holy. The songs may sound corny to some viewers, but they are the force behind the major transformation of Brother Francis. The papal scenes were a part of Brother Francis' desire to know the truth, whether he had done anything to upset the Father. After all, who did he have in his life as a mentor. No one. There wasn't a truly spiritual person in his entire village to help guide him in spiritual matters as he began his work to build that old chapel, San Damiano. Nevertheless, look what it became under his guidance and loving care of God's lowly sons and daughters. He and his brothers had drawn in all the poor, showing as Jesus did, that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The Spirit of God was revealing Himself to Francis God's heart, with an outpouring of His Holy Spirit, displayed by his pure and kind acts toward mankind. I love how well this movie shows the deepest need in today's churches, to die to oneself and to live for others. It is very well exemplified by Sister Clare's confession to Francis, "I don't want to understand, I want to understand. I don't want to be loved, I want to love." What a most profound heavenly vision that is. It is not as greatly imparted to all who believe in Christ, yet it remains a very special spiritual gift, and in Clare was rooted deeply in her soul. I will forever return to this movie when In need of a perspective that is Christ's alone. It is not mixed with the battling of doctrinal issues prevalent among today's Christian sects, but instead, is a true awakening of the very nature of God. I applaud the producer and cast director for all their many choices to bring about such a wonderfully living experience, compelled initially by the disillusionment of war, but furthered by Brother Francis' insistence to find the truth. His conversion, once he believed, was the catalyst through which the populace viewed his actions and achievements, not for his own glory, but for the glory of God. Truly the top event, IMO, was introduced by the hands of the misunderstood. Francis was being pushed far away from the Catholic Church of that time. It was characterized by a very weak view of Christ's mission. In so many movies today, all that can be seen are the representatives of the clergy portrayed as being nothing more than weaklings, with no depth of character, men void of answers, and fearful of questions. Evil onlookers wanted the brethren to be broken into pieces, to prove to Francis' small group that it is impossible to live the true meaning of the gospel. The men surrounding the Pope were thinking Francis could be used to return the lowly to the Catholic church through their works such as the giving of tithes, which is what one of the self-righteous men on the sidelines of the Pope's cabinet was referring to when he said the Pope knew what he was doing when he bent down to kiss the feet of Francis. To that self-serving deacon, Francis' arrival was a step necessary to bring back to the Catholic Church the low class, naïve, spiritually vulnerable, and little educated brothers and sisters. Bringing them back to the Church would keep the Pope exalted. As it was a day not yet revitalized by the revelation of grace, Francis, with his following underlings, a band of understudied and lesser advanced, brothers, grew despite the lack of Christian universities. Instead, it was purely through the inworkings of the Spirit of God that they were doing good deeds and transforming in character. Again, I applaud the entire cast and leadership for bringing us the best of the heart of God.

"I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God. I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit."
