I moved from St. Louis to Southern California 40 years ago. Every time I visit relatives in my hometown, I insist on getting Imo's Pizza and Toasted Ravioli. It wouldn't be home without it.

Moved to St. Louis a few years ago, since left again. But I remember trying my first Provel Pizza from Imos I belive. At first, I really didn't care for it. But over time it grew on me. Now, living in TN, I order IMOs from Goldbelly atleast once or twice a year.I get a provel craving lol. My favorite while I was in St. :pios was Stefaninas or Stefs Pizza. Faraci was also good.

RE Provel Cheese : I have lived in Michigan for 30 years but grew up in the STL metro area (Belleville) and can't get Provel here. At 1:32 - 1:45 in this video, Rick Schaper from Dogtown Pizza says (and I'm paraphrasing) “...provolone is a blend, it’s got provolone, a little bit of swiss, a little bit of american….” Yet, earlier in the vid, at 1:15, a close-up shot of a block of Hoffman’s Provel states on the label : pasteurized process cheddar, swiss and provolone cheese. American Cheese is not listed as an ingredient ( !! ) and I'm thinking the cheddar is probably white cheddar. Further research (on the internet) suggests that a tiny amount of liquid smoke is also included. Recipes for this cheese vary widely, so I gave up trying to find the definitive, correct formulation, such that I could make it myself. My wife was in STL over the hoidays and brought back a rare treasure for me : an entire block of REAL Provel cheese !! She got it at Schnuck's in FVH. So, I'm making REAL, thin-crust, STL pizza this coming weekend ! ;-)

Well, if I visit the us one day, I'll do my best to visit St. Louis! I love the contemporary neapolitan pizza but I wanna try this one!

Being raised in St. Louis, I love Imo's pizza. Most people I bring to St.Louis don't like Provel cheese and loose it right there.

Provel is a mixture of Provolone, Swiss, and white cheddar with a little "smokiness" and is NOT made with American cheese. The FDA considers provel a processed cheese just like American Cheese. (which in case anyone was curious, means it is in fact a cheese) For heavens' sake, you can't say that you would never eat Provel and claim its not cheese if you have ever had American Cheese (which I'm sure that you have and if you haven't, kudos to you)

Imo sells provel cheese and it is AWESOME on a salad.

I love St. Louis style pizza BUT I'm not a big Imo's fan, I hate that when the subject of St. Louis style pizza comes up, most people think of this sorry fast food prefabbed crust version. Imo's also has lead people to believe that they are the originators of St.Louis style pizza. Not so, they have only been in business since 1964. Many others where serving St Louis style since the late 1940's and early 1950's

I can't imagine putting pepperoni on one of these things. Nothing more than sausage, onions and maybe some mushrooms. BTW I just ordered one from Frasher;'s restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. You can get it outside of StL.

I tried New York Pizza: Too much yeast. Tried Chi-Town's Pizza: Too much Dough Tried L.A.'s Pizza: Melted cheeze on pineapples just don't cut it. St. Louis IS the spot for great pizza( unless you go to Indianapolis)

I live in Atlanta for 15 yrs. now. I've eaten pizzas from New York, Chicago, California, Italy, Spain, Mexico. I gotta say. GODDAMN I MISS IMO'S and Pantera's Pizza. I think I have to show these fools how to make a pizza. The only pizza I eat now is Papa Johns.

They left out the party about how it tastes terrible. But at least it's "tidy".

You are pissed that I am right that the rest of the country could care less abot STL style pizza, because it is lame. If it was so great then the rest of the country would have heard of it or even might like it. But enjoy your dream vacation to The Lake of the Ozarks. Now that is a real classy place.

Wake up... Pizza Hut is not stealing anything.. Like I said go to Chicago or New York or any other city and ask them if they have ever heard of St. Louis style pizza. Get over yourself, it really is not that good.

Great baseball town. Zero night life. Go to Dallas or Chicago for the woman, it is not happening in St. Louis. Job market is horrible. If you want buy a house here expect to get reamed. The houses here are not worth the price. Every man over 35 will ask what high school went to, so they can judge you and put you in a social class. Some of the people in West County think they are in Hollywood, just because they paid a ton of money on a home that is not worth half of what they paid. Suckers.

And lets be honest, the rest of the country outside of St. Louis could give a rats ass about the cardboard Imo's St. Louis pizza.. By the way touch guy, if you want to see a real ballpark and not a minor league one, go to New York. Texas or Baltimore for a real ballpark and not a modern day cookie cutter like Busch. KC has a better park than St. Louis.
