A movie about the Great Cavaillé Coll Organ of St.Sulpice.
The recordings are made in the week of 28th of agust and on sunday the 28th.
(With camera and Ipod Ipro recorder)
It is not the best recording, but it gives a impression of the organ and it's environment. Impressive!
Organiste Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin playes during excersise Bach and for me a unknown piece.
On Sunday Jonathan Hope played during the sunday Organ Audition Marcel Dupré (Allegro Deciso,Evocation Op.37)
During the 12h mass Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin played Gabriel Pierné's Prelude (from his 3 pieces)

That rustling sound heard during minutes 3 through 5 is a wonderful reminder that this is in fact a machine that makes music. Its moving parts would have to make noises. This is a revelation to me. Thanks for your attention to visual and audio details. You've really shown the church and its surroundings thoroughly.

@rr7firefly Thanks for this comment. The noise of the machine is not heard in the church, but when playing organs like this you feel the contact with the organ and the music much more than with a electified traction. Greetz!

Gerwin Hoekstra Zie jaren later, dat ik deze reageerder ken! We troffen elkaar laatst in de Bonifatiuskerk, toen je daar de dienst kwam oefenen op het kleine cc orgeltje. ;)

@slofox13 As far as I know it is a tracker action with the 'Barker' machine which pneumaticly takes some away of key pression of the keys, to make large organs playable for i.e.virtuosic music (In smaller organs sometimes only used for a part for the organ. (Go)

Tracker, if you mean with Barker mechanism, yes. It is a noisy machine behind the console, but i the church it is not heard.

Of course it is a tracker organ, assisted by by a Barker Lever, a pneumatic assist to the tracker action, enabling the coupling of manuals without making the touch too heavy to manage.

I am sad. I was there after dark and didn't know what I was taking pictures of until I was back in the states. I would have loved to see the inside of the church and heard its organ in person.
