My grandpaents were married in the church in about 1921 and grandfather Andrew was one of the first to help grow the congregation The original blueprint plans have been posted for all to see in the newer reception hall. St. Theodosios Cathedral was constructed when the church was under the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Metropolia (Metropolitan District), previously the Archdiocese of Sitka [Alaska] and North America. It was designed by noted Cleveland architect Fredrick Baird who modeled it after Christ the Saviour Church in Moscow, Russia, which was destroyed by the Bolsheviks but after the Fall of East European Communism, the Russian Federation funded its reconstruction. Today it is the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Moscow Patriarchate. The 13 domes atop the cathedral represent the 12 Apostles and Jesus Christ their head. Today the church is under Chicago and the Midwest Diocese of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) so named since 1970. The church can be seen from I 490. It is of some 25 Eastern Orthodox church's in Greater Cleveland where the priests form the Greater Cleveland Council of Orthodox Clergy. St. Theodosios Cathredal is a tribute to Eastern Orthodoxy in the United States. Orthodoxy is a minority in the U.S. diaspora where there are some 1 million Orthodox in North America, however, Eastern Orthodoxy is concentrated in Southeast Europe's Balken States, Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Its 270 million members constitute the 2nd largest Christian denomination. As Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has said, "from Alexandria to Moscow."

That's one awesome building

The immigrants were not Russians from Russia, but Rusin (Rusyn, Ruthenians) from Carpathian Mountains in Europe (Austria - Hungaria, resp. Czechoslovakia, Poland and Transcarpathia in present Okraine.

Not quite true. The oldest Orthodox church in Ohio is Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Marblehead, Ohio. Built in 1905-1906. St Theodosius is the older parish, but we have the older church.

Arson

This building was constructed by the Tartarians hundreds of years ago maybe even longer. It was found and repurposed in 1911-1912. People in 1912 could never construct something of this glory in one year let alone in 50 years. It was recently atacked by arson in an attemp to cover up the true history of the USA. They burn these marvelous buildings all the time it is sickening.
