Art rocker/alien St. Vincent (Annie Clark) braves a session with media coach Janessa Slater (Vanessa Bayer - Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck). Janessa tries to think of a good St. Vincent scandal to leak to the media and St. Vincent tries to convince Janessa to actually listen to her music.

You're seriously reaching. Anyone with a functioning brain understands every angle they're going for humor-wise. It simply just doesn't work. There's nothing clever, ironic, witty, or even somewhat funny about this clip. It's not a generational thing nor an intellectual thing. It's just simply not funny. At all. In the slightest.

A realize this is meant as a comedy skit, but I feel like when you've got someone like Annie Clark who is perhaps one of the most interesting musicians of a generation this type of mock interview falls flat. It shifts the focus from a very mesmerizing interviewee to a boring joke comedian interviewer doing some sub-par version of a Daily Show correspondent routine.

I understand that she is trying to make the interviewee feel awkward and uncomfortable but it really doesn't translate into comedy at all. All she does is say some non-sense and laugh to herself, while St. Vincent sits there looking bored out of her mind.
