Hi, good explanation. I have a question, Z:N ratio is correct? Because if I observe diagram I understand that with the increase of protons, neutrons increse more, but in the video the value of ratio 1.5 means the contrary (Big Z, Less N). So I think that N:Z is the correct ratio.

Hey Angela, you are right to notice that, for Z>20, stability is found when there are more neutrons with respect to protons! Thanks! Considering stability, the Z:N ratio when Z20, the Z:N ratio is around 2:3 (40% of Z and 60% of N). Expressing ratios as decimals is done when we are comparing a part to the whole, not one part to another part. I got this from a textbook (Environmental Isotopes in Hydrogeology, Clark and Fritz), not sure why they decided to put it that way. Thank you for pointing this out :)

But WHY do unstable isotopes decay a certain way? How do you know without the band of stability?

03:23 Isn't 99.795% + 0.204% = 99.999%? How come the last isotope is 0.037%?

@@a10sminion80 It's not a rounding error, otherwise the difference would not be 0.036. The error would be in the thousandths digit if it were due to rounding.
