Today I am demonstrating how to use the stained glass stamp from DRS Designs to make any rubber stamps you have look like beautiful stained glass.
You can find the stained glass stamp I used here: www.drsdesigns.com/oval-staine...
Stamps that have large open areas without too much detail work best. The Iris stamp I used is from Anita's but I think they went out of business.
You will need:
White cardstock or printmaking paper
black ink
markers
clear embossing ink
UTEE or any clear embossing powder
Heat tool/gun
scissors
Stamp the stained glass background then overstamp the focal image. Don't worry if you stamp outside the lines because you will cut it out later. Color the image with markers. Press the clear inkpad on the image and sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat. Repeat the embossing step until you have a thick glassy coating on the image. Cut out the image and you can bend and crack it if you wish. Add to a card! You are fabulous!

My husband actually makes stained glass as a hobby. We have used it for unique wedding gifts, because we know NOBODY else will be giving the same thing(Unlike a toaster or gift card hahaha). I can't wait to get the stamp from DRS Designs so I can adapt his patterns to the wedding card, or a gift tag. thank you sooo much Lindsey :)

OK! I've done my patriotic duty of supporting the US economy - rushed right over and bought the stained glass stamp, the biker's prayer stamp, July birthday, and three others. I've watched you use the Mega-Mount several times. It's next. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials/videos. I've been collecting and feverishly stamping for 19 years and learn so much from you every video.

I love this stain glass tutorial. Can't wait to try it. You inspire me! Thank you. By the way, I agree with you about the brushes/nibs of the water markers, they do get out of shape quickly. It is hard to get a fine point on them.

Hi Lindsey, I LOVE the stained glass stamps and went onto the DRS site, wound up buying 4 great stamps, and this after right before you went to the stamp show I was watching the great wizard of oz painting on a stamp you did, went on lost Coast designed and bought a bunch of their incredible stamps. Actually the owner of LCD needed to call me because the discount code wasn't working and She wanted to know did I still want the stamps in my basket. She was able to apply the discount, I have already received those GREAT stamps. I mentioned that it was your tutorial that led me to their site and she said she was seeing you this weekend at the stamp show! I try to be a frugal crafter myself, but I love your tutorials and I'm starting from 0. I make sure these folks know it's you that send me their way. .And a great big THANKS to you for making all of this so attainable to us newbies. LOVE all your tutorials. God Bless, Pat

Hey Lindsay know this is an older video but I'm doing a swap which we have to do three atcs in stained glass effect - knew your probably done something - you always seem to, and found this great video! Love the background stamp and how you used a normal focal stamp on top. I don't have a background stamp but might experiment firstly with colouring background after stamping focal image then doing three layers if embossing powder then crack it and use my black PITT pen to trace the cracks. Alternatively I might just draw random crack pattern in background first then stamp and proceed as normal. Do love those stamps and as per usual I adore watching your videos. I love getting an insight into your daily life and like hearing about your day - I class you as a friend so value those times I sit with a cuppa and watch and listen to you Lindsay. Big hugs - ignore the critics. X

I'm responding to your concerns about your Tim Holtz distress markers drying out. It looks like your not pressing hard enough when putting the caps back on after using them. If you see a black rim on the marker barrel right under the edge of the white cap, then you don't have it on all the way and it's not sealed, which results in the marker drying out. I know it seems silly but I noticed one of the markers in the background of your video, and a black rim was visible. Make sure to press hard enough when recapping your distress markers so that you feel and hear a snap and there is no visible black rim under the cap on both ends of the marker. Hope this helps.
