Staithes Harbour drawing demonstration Jan 2022

Hello all, and apologies for the gap in posting new videos: I've had a few commissions with deadlines, Christmas, and a stinking cold in that order, so all conspired to delay any new videos for my channel.
Thought I would start the year by limbering up with a quick drawing of a view of the harbour at Staithes, using my favourite Kaweco brass sport pen, with Rohrer and Klingner sketch ink(waterproof so no issues with subsequent watercolour washes).
As I mentioned in my (sniffly) commentary, I spend far more time whilst drawing actually looking at the reference photo rather than my sketchbook- this makes for a much less controlled drawing with much livelier lines.
I'll add the watercolour washes in a day or so and upload this one next week. I then intend to film a video to two exploring my favourite materials, as many folk have asked for this...

Nice. Thanks for the lesson. I believe this is labeled a dip pen and watercolor wash but it's a fountain pen, yes?

Thank you 🙏 The ink in my pen is from Rohrer & Klingner… Sketch Ink. It’s waterproof and ( so far) hasn’t clogged any nibs!!!

Hello Marilyn… I do mention this in the commentary, but here’s the info: I used a Kaweco brass sport with an extra fine nib,& the ink is Rohrer & Klingner sketch ink-waterproof. It comes in a range of colours,I used black here, but I also have dark grey and a dark blue. Hope this helps… I’ll be doing an in-depth video on my materials soon, so keep an eye out 😎
