The full story is pretty pathetic on the other party’s behalf. The part on the news called it a hit and run, which only ran after she found out he’s a fairly wealthy guy. What actually happened was both parties were a bit sauced, and her boat was driving without lights and his boat turned in to hers; both parties settled everything as both were at fault in one way or another. Then she puts on the crocodile tears and he took the blame for it and left the force since financially he’s already doing well. Turns out he’s actually a real good dude.

He was in the boat with his boss when they hit the families boat then when asked about being drunk they took off. Guilty by association besides he didn't have to lie to his bosses to try and cover it up.

Got fired for lying about it....one alcoholic protecting another alcoholic. All they had to do was pay damages for the other boat, which stale had the money to do, but was too narcissistic to accept the blame!
