In this video, I demonstrate how to open up a standing fan to deep clean the internal parts that are concealed by the motor cover. As a bonus maintenance tip, oiling the appropriate points to prolong the life of the fan.

I seriously cant thank you enough! You really made this so easy for me. First time Ive ever cleaned my fan coz it was making a really horrible noise and now it actually feels brand new again!!! I did end up using a little bit of soap though, it was shocking to see how much filth and dust that came off but even the air its blowing out now is stronger (even on its lowest setting). Thank you for being a real one!

@@fuzzy34r I was almost done with disassembling it but now I've been sitting here for 30 minutes figuring how to remove the oscillating. I have the same identical fan as yours but with the oscillating knob. There's no screw and when I lift it up it just stays there. I can lift up the entire fan by holding on to the knob and the knob just stays there.

Thanks for saving me 30 dollars! I think what I took from your help the most was not how to actually go about disassembling, (because that's usually the easy part, you see a screw, unscrew it) but knowing that I can follow your lead without any risk. That's usually the most intimidating part of fixing something is for me, that unless I can watch someone else do it first, I'll be afraid to break something or zap myself by accident.

It's quiet, it really blows, it's elegant looking, kzfaq.infoUgkxmj9RYGCX25BElHkuWjHec-2_muyUGyCm remote is handy. Not too difficult to assemble (see below)The assembly instructions left out a few tips, IMHO (see photo for my tips)Oh, and be patient when you attach the cage halves together (last step). You might want to loosen the screw just a little bit before you start. It's awkward (don't drop it!), but you'll get it.

For some dumb reason, I never thought about cleaning my standing fan. I had it on all the time, and it got extremely dirty and linty. To the point where I barely felt any air coming out. I am absolutely shocked at how much better my fan is working now that I gave it a super deep clean. It's crazy that I waited so long to do so becos the difference is incredible! Don't be a dummy like me 😂! Make sure all of your fans are cleaned, especially if you dont have aircon and going into summer!

I had a pedestal fan that was running pretty much 24/7. About 4 months later it's started to squeak and get rather noisy. Then just stopped spinning. Would this cleaning method and oiling ensure it'll work again? Or no promises? After the cleaning and oil treatment I would suggest to everyone is turn it on and make sure it's spinning again before putting everything back together.

I'm assuming in this video you cleaned a working fan. Well my fan is completely dead, I removed the first couple of parts on my own (up until the part with screws) and cleaned out hair and dust, but it still doesn't work at all when I plug it in. Should I bother unscrewing the internal parts to clean or is it just dead at this point? I'm a real cheapskate and hate spending money if I don't have to, lol.

@fuzzy34r
@fuzzy34r Жыл бұрын
Yes, any light machine oil is suitable. In fact, for older fans, there is a small pad surrounding the shaft that is pre-filled with oil from the factory. The oil in the pad slowly dries out over time and would be great if it could be replenished.

But everytime I looked online about cleaning the back motor part, everyone just said to vacuum it or oil it (which you shouldnt do a lot, the oil can trap dust and make worse problems). I thought I would electrocute myself even if it were unplugged, by the way people talked. Im an idiot lol, but I just took that cover off and it was NASTY. No amount of vacuum would help that.
