Standing Hands decided Side/Forward Rotation

Bowling is complicated, so don't make it even more complicated.
Our release hand position is decided by our initial standing hand position.
This is how the same relax swing and wrist can give different outcome.
No extra or weird motion. Nothing unnecessary.
Yet, there are much more than that...

I have watched this video a few times. I realized the day before league that I didn't watch it enough and missed a few key points in your video notes like maintaining forward thumb. I would like to comment that my results were great for me. I bowled 198, 216, 198 a 612 Series. I missed some spares along the way, but my strike percentage went up i.e. after every open frame I managed to either strike again or double. In my 216 game I threw 5 strikes in a row after a spare. I just need to practice more with these instructions and control my emotions. TY Very Much. Too all beginners and advanced beginners this is THE Video to watch if you think you can't get your ball to hook or lack control getting your ball to hit the pocket and strike more.

I tried your low down release tonight and got to say i definitely have a lot more revs. I found that my ball speed is a lot slower so it hooks a ton. Only 12-13mph on the monitor. Before id usually be about 15-16mph on the monitor. If i can figure out how to get my ball speed back up to 14-15 and learn how to manipulate my hand for more side roll or forward roll id be good.

Awesome! So how would this apply for a 2 hander? The same? I practiced earlier and it felt like in order to create forward roll I needed to feel the weight of the ball more on my thumb and towards the right side of my hand almost as if I was going to throw a back-up ball. It feels challenging to fine tune because I either get very forward, or very rotated. I'm not sure how I would make my hands do 10º of rotation vs 50º.

After video showing "ghost rev" weak wrist/relax elbow, there was a bonus about side and forward rolls. I just noticed after reviewing these two videos that one forward roll example differs from the other. In the weak wrist relax elbow forward roll was an inside tilt to the ball in this one it is almost the opposite. In the weak wrist relax elbow side roll was the ball tilted to the outside but in this video you stand at an anti clockwise direction and the ball is slightly tilted to the outside for forward roll. Is there a method to your instruction that I am missing or is the camera blocking the original position of your ball in front of your body?

thought the ideas were swapped, like if you forward roll (earlier hook) you move left or if you want to do side roll (later hook) you move right? since you don't want a ball skidding too far or vice versa you don't want it hooking too early
@janproshopchannel
@janproshopchannel 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, good question! We need to create more angle when playing steeper left. Forward roll hooks front-to-back earlier but bends out energy in the front, creating less flip/hook in the backend. Hooking earlier means smoother shape, we often need a smoother shape on the right and more angular shape on the left to reach pocket. Another point is that as you go steeper to the left and open the angle, the lane actually becomes longer, requiring longer skidding distance. This compensates your hand position changes as well.

@@janproshopchannel I think the way i was thinking of it was more in certain cases where there's balls meant to skid further & balls that are strong already, like you don't want to be making a ball that skids long to skid even further and don't want to be making a ball that reacts early an even earlier rounded shape. Basically trying not to over-compensate for what the ball already does but this is still good advice for people who have 1 - 2 balls nonetheless

Could you possibly do a video on how to increase your rev rate without losing speed?
@janproshopchannel
@janproshopchannel 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment!! Let me rephrase to “how to decrease my rev rate without increasing speed”. It sounds complicated. In my opinion, it is a relativity between the two. High rev manipulation will cause slower ball speed due to shorter arm swing and wrist movement. For example, say you are throwing 25km/hr straight, it will be around 22km/hr with good rev. A pro bowler throwing 25km/hr with good rev, he can literally throw 30km/hr straight with his feet. Rev by arm swing and speed power by foot work are two quite different topics.
@Philycheeze222
@Philycheeze222 5 ай бұрын
@@janproshopchannel Yes, I agree. This is something that I kinda discovered on my own, whenever my ball begins to rev up quickly, my ball loses speed and all the sudden I go from speed dominant to rev dominant. EJ Tackett and Kevin McCune both have a high rev rate, but somehow they still creat high speed to balance it out. But for me that’s physically impossible. My normal speed off my hand is 15-16 mph, but I can’t keep that speed when I gain revs

You lose a decent amount of rpm’s with that loft from the side rotation style, due to the double bounce though. Might it be worth a mention this particular video is more relevant for the more crank style throwers? (Not that the principle can’t be applied)
@janproshopchannel
@janproshopchannel 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! This video is not related to rpm. Rotation direction changes ball motion front to back.
