How to Install Eave Trim With Bullnose Drip Edge
In this standing seam how-to, we will walk you through:
Laying out your trim.
Installing an optional fascia wrap.
Installing trim cleat.
Cutting and finishing eave trim at gable ends.
Overlapping eave trim.
Fastening eave trim.
Laying Out Your Trim
Prior to your layout, it’s good practice to plan the layout of your standing seam panel and trim.
Cutting and Finishing Standing Seam Eave Trim at the Gable Ends
1. Measure the distance of trim needed and add one inch for the tab.
2. Mark a 45-degree line at the drip edge.
3. Using metal cutting snips, cut along your outline.
4. When cutting at the tab, cut the corners at a 45 degree.
5. Mark a straight line on the top section for your trim.
6. Continue cutting along your mark.
7. Using a hand seamer, bend the tab downwards 90 degrees. The tab should fall flush with the gable side of your roof.
How To Overlap Eave Trim On A Standing Seam Roof
NOTE: Overlaps should be six inches.
1. Mark six inches onto your trim.
2. Cut up to the mark at the fold of the trim.
3. At the drip edge, cut the six-inch mark at the hem of the trim.
4. On the adjacent piece, notch cut the hem up to the six-inch mark.
5. Silicone sealant should be applied three inches from the edge.
How To Fasten Eave Trim On A Standing Seam Metal Roof
1. First, hook the lower section on the trim cleat.
2. Fasten using pancake screws 12 inches on center.
3. Remove protective plastic coverings upon installation.
