In this video we start standing walls on the biggest building we have ever built. Lots of you were curious how we would stand 304' walls, and even though this is the biggest building we have stood, it still goes up just like any other building we put together.

Hi Kyle, the safety issue is hydraulics failing. A blown hose could kill someone. My friend's dad was crushed and suffocated from a hydraulic failure. Just make sure you look your machines over and that they are in good order as I'm sure you do. As I've heard you say before you can't eliminate risk but you can reduce it.
@kevinhornbuckle
@kevinhornbuckle 18 күн бұрын
There are check valves that hold the pressure when the pump is off. Yes, a leak in a hose will drop pressure. But hydraulic hoses don’t just suddenly explode. Old worn out ones should be replaced, obviously.

Hi Kyle, how about adding a small trailer behind the golf cart to carry around all of your basic supplies while building this giant building. One trip to your main trailer at the end of the day to put things away? The Harbor Freight 4' x 8' folding trailer would be ideal and cheap. Save a lot of wasted man power. Great project.

I hope you appreciate how amazing you are that 3 men can raise a building this size with efficiency and craftsmanship. By comparison, this morning while dropping my kid off at camp, I witnessed a crew of 5 and with a telehandler take 30 minutes to put a wheelbarrow on a 12’ high roof.

I definitely agree with your logic about fasteners and lifting the wall by straps! If it can’t withstand that, the building is junk anyway! The 20 penny ring shank nails are definitely a must for those massive walls! Over 300’ of wall is impressive, Kyle!

I assume you threw out a bid on all that expensive lumber. How much did you save from vendor to vendor? I live in the south where that lumber comes from. I can't imagine how much shipping was for that amount of lumber. I love that type of work and in the past did my share of framing . Not a wall that long. Most of my wood working was falsework building bridges. Now at my age of 72, I have a wood working shop in my back yard just for a hobby. Just love working with wood.
