I always used flakes but mannnn I love the slabs. its so easy and smooth to cut through with a knife. and sooo much easier to weigh. I use my scale and just put the tiny slabs piece by piece until I get the ounces I need. its so awesome. when I was using the flakes I had to weigh my container then subtract the container by the wax it was just to complicated. love love loveeeee slabs won't go back to flakes ever ever lol

My company uses this wax and its fantastic other than, as he mentions, the sink holes and shrinking. Works great in the 8oz apothecary jars. but will sink in larger or jelly jars... However, what temp do you recommend this wax be poured at? Do you recommend letting them cool on a wire rack or a solid surface?
@kellsgreenidge8885
@kellsgreenidge8885 3 жыл бұрын
I just got an idea. If they come in slabs maybe the slab cutter that is used by soap makers will be good go cut the slabs into loaves and then the single wire cutter or multi bar cutter to get them into smaller pieces with less mess. That will depend on how hard the wax is.

Have you reviewed C3 wax yet? That is my favorite. I struggle with the IGI 6006, and mainly because of the sink holes, as it does take time to go over 40 or 50 candles with a heat gun. I have found the the cold and hot throw with the C3 is phenomenal. Candle Science no longer carries it, but I get it through either Flaming Candle, or Fillmore Candle supply.

I have been using this wax for some time and it is a royal pain to work with but makes the best candles. I was surprised that you poured at such a low temp. and not sure if you heated the jars. I always have a lot of trouble with air pockets within the candle that appear through the glass. It's less if I heat the jars and pour at a higher temp. but I always end up taking the heat gun to them after a few days. I'm curious if yours develop air bubbles or "water marks" after a few days.

Hello, I am using ParaSoy and for some reason recently the wax has been coming away from the jar. Didn't happen prior. What could I possibly be doing wrong? Thanks :)

rebecca sampson Thisnis very normal and something that almost all waxes follows. The wax shrinks as it cools and pulls from the sides as it shrinks.

@@StandleyHandcrafted thank you for the reply. I do have another question though. I used soy wax for the first time and when I did the first burn I let it burn for 2 hours to melt the whole top, then after setting again it curdled(looked like the top of cauliflower). Why is that? I used 1.8oz FO, i made 6 8oz jars and used dye chips. Thanks

With the added paraffin , do the jars clean up with soap and water?
@StandleyHandcrafted
@StandleyHandcrafted 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it's not a hard paraffin that sticks like crazy. I will heat up the jars on a warmer, pour out and then wipe out.

Hi Stanley, Fellow candle maker here. Love your vids, keep up the great work! I’ve been using 464 for over a year. Recently switched to 6006 with glass jars. Never had “wet spots” with 464. Seeing quite a bit with 6006, any little tricks?

Shelia Cummings They definitely show up more with 6006. You can pour a little cooler to reduce them.

I am very new to candlemaking and I was also getting a lot of “wet spots”. I would heat gun them but they always came back. I’ve starting putting my jars on a cooling rack and heating the jars slightly with a heat gun before pouring. Also, I’ve started adding 1 Tbsp hard coconut oil to the melting wax. It seems to really help the wax adhere better. I keep the jars about 4 inches apart on the cooling rack for even heat distribution. I haven’t had another “wet spot”.

Kathleen Gallagher I’ve heard of adding coconut oil and wondered if that helped. Thanks!!
