Great advice in this video. Been using Parasoy and can confirm that the wax will join the meltpool later if you should find any tunneling in the beginning. Rather than wicking up, I've been taking extra steps to make sure that the wick is central. It can be unattractive if one side is melting perfectly and one is not. Love Parasoy though! Very attractive wax, looks really professional and, as everyone has already said, the scent throw is lovely. I started at 10% and it got a little heady for my tastes, so I chose to go down to 8%. Hope that helps someone some day.

Ive seen where people advertise as a premium soy blend. There is such a misconception about paraffin wax in comparison to soy...neither of the two are natural since both go though a chemical process before becoming a wax. Paraffin is no more dangerous than soy as long as you wick correctly and use the appropriate amount of FO. I really hope this helps. I started with 464 but i quickly switched to this wax and im never going back

@candlescience
@candlescience 2 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend testing an ECO 10 here. Depending on the shape of your jar and the ingredients used, you may find that wicking up or down might work best for you but this is a great place to start! The 6006 can sometimes take a bit to get a full melt pool going so completing multiple 4 hour burn tests of the same candle will help give you the most accurate idea of how the candle will burn all the way down. As the wick burns lower, the heat tends to build up more, melting any excess wax on the sides of your jar.

for those that use this wax, does it bother your customers at all what blend of candle theyre buying or do they just care more for the scent throw?
@candlescience
@candlescience 2 жыл бұрын
The feedback we've received from makers is that generally, there is generally a customer base that just wants a strong smelling candle and another that really prioritizes having as many "all natural" ingredients as possible. For people looking for 100% soy candles, they may not want any paraffin in the candle even though it is safe to use. For people wanting the strongest smelling candle possible, it is likely that they will know that paraffin is used. Using a parasoy wax is a great option and makes a great candle, you may just choose not to market to customers wanting a 100% soy wax candle.

I’m currently testing this wax with Wooden Wicks from the Wooden Wick Co (the wick they recommend with Soy/Paraffin blend) Unfortunately the rests candles are sooting even when wicking down the size and double wicking. Will the Harmony Blend 4630 Wax be a better fit for wooden wicks?
@candlescience
@candlescience 2 жыл бұрын
Paraffin wax or paraffin blends can sometimes produce a darker smoke when burned but the size and strength of the wick plays a large part. Unfortunately, because we do not carry wood wicks, we have not done comprehensive testing with them in the waxes we currently carry. If you are seeing a quick, deep melt pool along with the sooting though, you may want to wick down even more as this can indicate that a wick is too large. The 4630 is a paraffin wax so it still may soot a bit and might require a different size or type of wood wick. Because we don't work with them currently though, we have not been able to add them to our Wick Guide recommendations.

You say it can be used for wax melts but it's too soft. Adding 4625 helps. What do you recommend?
@candlescience
@candlescience 2 жыл бұрын
For clamshell wax melts, it can be used successfully and we even have a tutorial on it! But, because it is a better container wax, it may stick to the inside of the molds a bit and not have as nice a snap as some other, harder waxes. Blending with 4625 can help with this! If you'll be using molds with intricate parts or designs though, the 4625 on its own or a wax like the BW-921, would be a better option.

For 6006 with the tins, I'd test an ECO 4, ECO 6, and ECO 8. The 6006 can sometimes give a slower burn and the tins are pretty shallow so the ECO 8 may be a bit large but a burn test would be the best way to see which might work best for your specific recipe.

It can be a good option, yes! The 6006 has a melt point of about 133° F and does well in warmer areas. You may still see some sweating or moisture leaving the candles if there is a change in temperature or it is very hot out but it should not affect the burn or quality of the candle.

I have this wax but I’m struggling so bad to get a hot throw. I keep changing the wick hoping that’ll be the solution but nothing is working 😭
@candlescience
@candlescience 3 жыл бұрын
The right wick can definitely help provide a better hot throw, as it will allow the melt pool to form properly! Keep in mind that the size of the candle container will also affect the hot throw. A smaller diameter jar may only scent a small room where a larger diameter jar can fill more space. While paraffin blends typically do not need as long of a cure time as soy candles do, we'd also recommend curing your candles for 2 weeks before burning to see if this improves your scent throw as candles usually smell a bit stronger over time. Hope this helps but if there are still some issues with hot throw, please reach out to our Support team and we'd be happy to assist further!

@candlescience
@candlescience 3 жыл бұрын
Darker smoke or soot can be more common with paraffin or paraffin blend waxes and while this does not always indicate a problem, you could test with a smaller wick to see if that helps lessen the effects. You could also experiment with blending your waxes, yes! Because there is already soy in a parasoy blend, adding more soy wax will increase the amount of natural wax over all. It can be difficult to tell how much soy wax is already in the parasoy. There is a chance you will need to adjust your wick as the melt point of the wax may be affected by adding the soy but we'd recommend testing with your preferred wick first to see.
