It’s an Asian thing. In Malay there’s a phrase where our mom would say to us if we can’t find our things. “Cari Pakai mata bukan Pakai mulot” which translates to find your things using your eyes not your mouth.

🤣🤣 That was one of my favorite things during that special. All the mom's I know say that. I hate the whole "where was the last place you saw it" and my answer was always if I knew I wouldn't be asking. The worst part was her and my brother would always ask where something was. I'd reply with the question of "where was the last place they saw it" and then tell them where it was.

The little kid in church was so funny 😂 and so true! My mom got proactive when glares, whispers, and pinches failed. She seated us sis-mom-bro-dad-bro and brough a baggie of peppermint lozenges to pass out every 10-15 minutes. How long the preacher talked was apparent by how many we received: "Wow, that was a three-peppermint sermon!"

It does seem pretty similar, but i think it is like asking for their blessing instead of us blessing them, and at least in my family, we kiss the person's hand (or otherwise, or both) instead of touching it with our forehead I think the phillipines were colonized by Spain, Brazil was colonized by Portugal, which is close to Spain in many ways, don t know if it has anything to do with it
