so I think this is almost 20 years old now? Just so the people here who never heard of her know, she's about 55 now. Her last special I think was called "Hormonal Beast" in 2017, it's pretty good.

It was after she was part of a talk show that failed. It only lasted one season. It was supposed to be a younger version of The View but topics were more like what you would get on The Talk. Unfortunately did not work out but it also had Jules Asner and Kimora Lee Simmons.

@@seeharvesterthis actually isn't incorrect grammar. @vicstf8432 just gave us a really good illustration of "habitual be," a tense that exists in AAVE but not in standard English. The "habitual be" is used to describe extended actions rather than singular actions. It tells us that event in question happened more than once. It's funny that AAVE is often viewed as "less correct," in some way. As any linguist will tell you, AAVE contains grammatical aspects that don't exist in standard English, meaning that AAVE actually communicates information _more_ efficiently than other dialects. And communicating information is kind of the whole point of language. So the thing that language exists to do, AAVE does _better_ than standard English.
