The rare Bulldog label was a very short lived label running from October 1915 to June 1920 in that time they had 6 different labels so it's pretty easy to date them. The first was a blue paper label with the picture of a sailor and the name Bull Dog separated, the sailor trademark was used because John Bull records had patented the bulldog as their trademark. this label only existed until January 1916 at the latest then came this one, the design is etched into the record this was then infilled in red, from May 1916 the infill changed to white by April 1917 they used standard paper labels with various designs until the end. Non of the etched records had the trademark sailor until the 5th design, the label disappeared from the trade journals from October 1917 possibly due to a fire at the Crystalate's factory, it returned with it's final white and green paper label in October 1919 for it's final run.
Bull Dog records used their own masters until they reappeared in 1919.
