After feeling slighted by Stalin at the Yalta Conference, Churchill sang a few stances of this song. To break the tension, FDR told Stalin’s interpreter to say that Churchill’s singing was Britain’s secret weapon in the war.

My grandparents gave me a Phil Harris LP in the '50s, but the lyrics on this song were a bit different. I recall a line ending with something like "Her feet were big and her hands were clammy, and that's what I like about the South."

Not only are these records entertaining, but several reflect social & political history. Talking antiques indeed. Have tried playing Pathes electrically using a ball stylus, but sometimes the pick up skates across the record. Fortunately, my Marathon gramophone is dual standard, so given the right stylus, plays them with no trouble.

@@OldiesAl I can't go into detail, obviously, but the author has mentioned several old songs in the book. I was double-checking the titles for accuracy (because it's what I do) and this little gem came up. I think it's the song he had in mind, but I've flagged it for him to make sure.

Whoever "hearted" my comment, I thank you. Strangely, when I first looked this song up on the Internet (I knew it was the other side of "Music, Music, Music"), I came across lyrics to a song called "Copenhagen", but it was for the chewing tobacco! Why that would come up I don't know 😂

I'm not really sure Joe, the only thing I can think is they wanted to sell their machines along with the records, the problem was the artists recorded the same songs for other labels. A bit of Betamax and VHS many years later
