3 years ago this hedge was cut with a Stihl Gas powered trimmer. Today we are going to see if Milwaukee's Battery powered tools can cut it. BUT since the last time it was cut this hedge has grown from 8-10 feet tall to 12-14 feet tall with a few spots hitting more than that. NOT Sponsored- whatever happens happens- I don't care either way.

Flonase has changed my world. I have spent many an hour on the couch with cold wet rags on swollen shut eyes. Technique is important with the nasal spray. Spray the sidewalls of the nose not into sinuses. I have always had to do the steroid packs about mid June for my wicked grass allergies. Not the last two years. Thank you Flonase.

Your videos are great Stan. I like your approach to things, and I always pick up little tips and tricks or get new ideas from watching. I run a lawn/landscaping business over here in New Zealand, it's been really interesting seeing how you guys operate over there. I have mostly Husqvarna gas outdoor power tools, but I have a kit of Milwaukee battery tools for building decks etc. Most hedges I do with my Husqy pole trimmer, but I needed a regular trimmer for some smaller topiaries I maintain. I decided to go with the Milwaukee M18 Fuel, and I couldn't be happier. It's light, quiet and has all the power I need. I only have 6AH batteries, but I have never run one down more than two bars on a job, and that's probably nearly 2 hours on the trigger. Great machine. Side note, nice job Jake and Alex. Cheers mate 👍😎 Thanks for all the great content!

@@Dirtmonkey thanks for the reply boss! Well, I've noticed everything is bigger in the US... Houses, yards, trucks, mowers. You shoot in some really beautiful locations, and it often surprises me that a lot of the houses, on those big sprawling lots, aren't fenced in like they would be here. Most properties here rock six foot fences on at least three sides. I've noticed that you run all side discharge mowers, whereas pretty much all residential lawn contractors in NZ use collection systems. Walker mowers are probably the most popular ZT's here because of that. I've just recently picked up some commercial mowing contracts, and am looking at a couple of side discharge models... That's another thing, y'all have so much choice in the market, and I've heard you mention the prices of mowers over there... Like, half the price they are here! A local dealership has recently started importing Worldlawn, Graveley and Ariens mowers. I'm looking at the either Worldlawn Cobra or the Graveley Proturn ZX. Would you recommend either? The Graveleys are a bit more expensive, would you say that was justified?

Love the videos! Always watch them. Anyway, as far as your allergies and what not, even though I'm sure you have long past solved this, but try having your sinuses cleaned. I'm only 27 and haven't been able to really smell much EVER in my life. Allergies weren't too many, but when they DID kick in it was HELL. My boss eventually mentioned the same thing. He couldn't smell for 20+ years! He had his sinuses cleaned and fixed it all! Sorry for the long comment, but I felt it might help you or someone else.

Stanley, I had a 150 ft lenght aborvity hedge that was about 12 ft tall 4ft- 5 ft wide and I used a 6x8 ft scaffold with 2 plankes on top using 8 inch casters, that worked pretty good using a sthil hf85 gas powered hedge clipper with 24 inch bar.,that took about 5-6 hours to trim and clean up, one man total.

Love battery powered stuff the only problem is batteries are expensive and they don't last the amount of charges they tell you I heard of 2000 charge cycles in my experience with both Milwaukee and Dewalt you get maybe up to a 1000 but after 500 you start noticing they don't hold a charge as long

@@mattm6430 Hi Matt. Nah sorry, I don't have any pics up anywhere. I basically took the idea of this device and built my own concept of it. I used the backpack frame from a toddler carrying backpack. Then added to it a square tube frame that extended up and over my head. The tensioning mechanism is an old gas strut from a ute canopy. It has the ability to lift and hold at any position I desire. The strut can be moved along the lifting arm to increase or decrease the lifting force. So I can use it to lift a light weight electric hedge trimmer, up to a 41cc petrol powered multi tool with an additional extension piece. Giving me a maximum reach of nearly 7m. Cheers.

A cheap option for air filtration is just a 20 inch box fan with a high Merv or hepa 20x20x1 furnace filter taped to it. It probably doesn't filter as high a percentage of particles but it will move more air so it works pretty good.

I have the entire Milwaukee Quik-Lok set. Every attachment flat out rocks. I won't go back to gas. The hedge trimmer attachment with the extension installed pretty heavy and is a workout. The shoulder harness makes is a lot easier on the shoulders, but takes some getting used to. Doesn't help if you still have to reach over your head though. For that I made a bipod out of 1/2 in emt in an a-frame with a little cross at the top with some duct tape about 5 ft high. Then you just set the bipod and all the weight is on it. The duct tape flexes enough to be able sweep up and down in a nice strait line. Move forward a few feet and do it again. I use a full stick of EMT as a bar guide when I want a perfectly straight corner too. When you have strong young guys who know what they're doing, though, it's probably not an issue. Haha! Battery life with the hedge trimmer is ridiculously long. A 5ah battery is plenty for it, but the extra weight of the 9 or 12ah battery counter balances the cutter depending on how long a reach you are using. Great video on a big hedge job. Keep up the great work.

When I turned 40 yrs old my allergies that I have delt with really went full blown. I went to see an allergy doctor, I am here to say I am a believer. I always went to the doctor for a sinus infection at least 3 times a year. Since taking a weekly injection now, I have not been to the doctor for over 2 years for sinus or allergy symptoms. Also, for my residential home, I have been using 82volt Snapper weed eater, blower and hedger. I am in my 3rd year and I will not be going back to gas.

Claritin D 12 hour in the morning. Flonase nasal spray, 2 sprays in each nostril (some benefit 1st day but takes 7 days for full benefit). A saline nasal rinse before bed to clear everything you've breathed in during the day. If you're still having a hard time sleeping still, may add Benadryl before bed. It is used in most sleep aids and is a strong antihistamine. However, Benadryl can do the opposite and keep you up in rare circumstances. Can also cause you to wake up groggy so it's not a good fit for everyone. Love the videos, keep it up.

I have the same tool ( quick lock attachment ) and I like it . I tried gaz powered and battery powered Stilh...and they are great tools too but I ended up buying Milwaukee. The problem with those tools is the weight for using it for 8 to 10 hrs a day. You have to protect your shoulders and for this reason I install a bungy cord at my shoulder strap to the attachment hedge trimmer so for some operations I have zero gravity.

I never had issues with allergies growing up but my mom always has issues because we live in a neighborhood with lilacs all around us. Well, since I have been working in the woods along the coast (PNW) for the last couple years, I have had problems ever since. Its mostly in my nose and ears that plug up for days, can't smell or hear for crap. I used to have a lawn mowing company from when I was 10yo and never had any problems at all, and now my work is mostly 2-3 hours west of where I grew up and something about the moister air is giving me fits.

The hedge trimmer is probably the least power hungry attachment for garden tools. I'd use the lightest battery and see how far that got me before moving to a larger battery. I like to spray my blades with WD40 every once and a while. I wish they made longer hedge trimmer blades 36-40" like they used to, with an automatic oiler like a chainsaw for doing acres of blueberry bushes.

I'm 60 and my allergies have either been sinus or post-nasal drip. I got allergy shots for 17 years then went on claritin, but the straight stuff, not the D. Then when Zyrtec came out I started taking that twice a day. Yeah, it's a 24 hr med, but it doesn't last that long for me, so twice a day works. If you need the decongestant during the day, try taking the straight claritin (no D) at night. The decongestant can make your heart race and give you the jitters. Good luck.

I love gas. Has consistent power as long is there is gas in there . Plus I don’t worry about dead batteries.

Way more maintenance, unreliability (I know you've pulled the recoil started till your arm hurt, several times), still need to gas up (and mix I the oil), all of which takes a lot longer than swapping a battery. But yeah, I like gas too.

I've been looking for a review like this, unboxing and show is great for christmas. Looking into that power head. Nice review. One guy even used that attachment for thick weeds. As far as allergies, i rinse out with Akalol, 50/50 with water, using a battery nose sprayer. I also spray with Nasocourt OTC. It opens up your turbinates, and is supposed to last 24 hours. As for the rest of your allergies, please see an Ear Nose Throat doctor or allergist. I also came across Mucinex Nasal Decongestant Spray, Sinus-Max Severe Nasal Congestion Relief Clear & Cool Nasal Spray, 0.75 fl. oz., Lasts 12 Hours, Alkalol has a nasal spray, and three is a natural spray Bio allers, to clean out during the day no medicine.

I have found sleeping in the pure filtered air at night then going back into the pollen in morning is worse then sleeping with a window open. That said, if it gets too bad, get out of the pollen and into conditioned air.

Try Claritin (no D). The d is for decongestant which is the part that likely messes with you.

On the allergies. I suffered hardcore my entire life up to age 30. I cut sugar and now I’m good. When I eat tons of sweets around the holidays; I suffer for a couple weeks. Try cutting sugar if you haven’t already. 🤷🏻‍♂️

1.When I'm not congested I take Claritin (loratadine) without the decongestant in it. (No "D") 2. Really helps to shower right before bed. 3. NeilMed Sinus Rinse, I use it a couple times per day whether I'm suffering from anything or not. It's tough for some people to use, but just follow instructions and find a way to get comfortable with it. BEST INVENTION EVER FOR ALLERGIES. 4. Sleep in a slightly inclined position. Raise the head of your bed about six inches. Not only does it help with postnasal drip (which usually causes the sore throat), but it really does wonders for acid reflux. Sleeping in a slightly inclined position totally changed my life for the better.

Here's what turned me off of battery-powered lawn tools...I invested in many pieces in the Greeworks "Pro" system, which turned out to be not "Pro" at all. Although the battery was solid enough for most jobs, the actual motors couldn't handle the heavy work. The string trimmer failed (thermal overload) while trimming deep weeds and now won't run more than a few seconds. The snow thrower is small and weak and pretty much useless in heavy or deep snow. The leaf blower barely moves leaves. Granted, this is all one particular brand but thermal overloads never happen with gas-powered tools. (And yes...my Makita drills never have a problem either - but I don't run those for an hour or more at a time.)

For the allergies take a teaspoon of local unpasteurized honey. It takes some time to really start working. In other words don't expect an overnight miracle, However it made it so I no longer have to take allergy medication. Took a couple of weeks to start noticing then probably a month or so before I could quit the meds.
