Peppy's sacrifice scene hits me to this day. Even after finding out that he survives it, it's a scene so awesome that it makes grown men cry about a cartoon rabbit.
@VulpseiusFox4 жыл бұрын
I feel it could’ve made the story that much better if Pepper and Peppy had actually died. Would’ve made it that much more tragic and desperate and make the final fight and defeat of the aparoids that much more satisfying. They definitely didn’t hesitate to kill off pigma, so might as well have gotten a couple other significant figures right? I kinda expected Wolf to die as well, but it was also at the same time reasonable for him to get away with the rest of his team as well, but there might have been a little bit of a missed opportunity by not pulling the plug on Pepper and Peppy. Would be like the closing off of a chapter I guess and entering into a new era for new stories. The story of Andross and his forces being defeated has concluded, and so the aparoids could have been a good transition point, because they would be defeated at the cost of the characters of that previous era, so it all would come full circle that much more and open the way for new characters to replace them all and open up new stories. Just my thoughts anyway.

The transformation and assimilation of Pigma disturbed the hell out of me. Seeing him fused to this satellite, partially skeletal in the vacuum of space made it real and serious for me. This game was great. I get it, starfox is normally in Arwing, but this feels RIGHT. The starfox team obviously has ground missions too, it wouldn't make sense to never see that. The story was much better than the generic "stop andross". Seeing Saria ravaged, Corneria obliterated, and having to seemingly kill pepper... the stakes in this game felt much higher. By the end of the game, you can really see the effects of the war. It doesn't just feel like starfox only fighting. The moment with wolf, wolfs sacrifice, the diverse missions (Ground/tank/plane/wing riding) and the fact they brought back tricky was nice too. The voice acting is okay, the dialogue is iffy. Not the worst dialogue ever, but a lot of it isn't needed. The music is top-notch too. Assault had the best Starwolf music hands down until Zero added a damn choir to it. It's not the best starfox game, but it easily has the best story and it FEELS like how it should be. If you're going from the game's story, not the fact that previous games were arwing/land master only, this game feels like a good balance of grounded and aerial fighting.

Roberto Rodriguez I thought it was more a tribute to the Nintendo president that died and really just to test the waters on how they could develop later games rather than a full on reboot and restart of the series for a new time line anyway. As far as I’ve read and seen, it’s just expanding more on 64 rather than completely trashing and overhauling everything. I pray that’s the case because if it is a complete restart, God I will NOT be happy. It would be sad too because since the game wasn’t received all that greatly, it could cause the same fate as to what happened with Metroid. A real major drought where maybe a spin-off or two may appear but nothing mainstream. (Star Fox Racing game rumor... I’m looking at you...) And especially with Star Fox Command previously being deemed as not cannon as of right now (thank god)... the story we have right now is still really on a cliff hanger. So hopefully Zero is just an equivalent of say Zero Mission and Samus returns, which instead was meant to expand and improve the original story rather than completely restart the whole thing, and hopefully eventually there will be an actual canonically sequel to assault.

Probably the biggest highlight of this is the fact that Wolf got a bit of development for his character and the fact that he's now become an independent crimelord whose trying to break away from his time working for Andross. The fact that he went out of his way to save his rival, even if he did threaten him in the process, shows that there's at least some compassion in him. Oh, how I wish they would expand more on the Star Wolf team, particularly the trio (Wolf, Leon and Panther) and continue the anti-hero sides of their characters.

Wolf being forced into the "big, bad villain" role is something I never want to see because Wolf works better as an antagonistic, but moral crimelord doing his own thing, not being reverted right back to Square One, but worse. I really hope that if a new Star Fox game is made, Wolf is given better treatment and hopefully his personality from Assault is expanded upon.

A serious leader. Outside of that facade, he's rather sexist, hot-blooded, and doesn't quite think things through when they will keep affecting him in the long term. It leads me to think his father was rather lousy in raising him right.

I don't think it was because of the way James raised Fox. Of course, there is no possible way to be a perfect parent of course, but let's not forget, Fox's dad died when Fox was still a teenager, a time in your life when your still going through puberty. Also, don't forget Fox also had a mother, who died when Fox was still a kid, leaving James a single father. Anyways, Fox was an only child that went through so many years without his mother and father in his life, and the only thing that kept him going in life was his goal to avenge his father by killing Andross, who was responsible for all of Fox's pain. Sure, he had Peppy to look after him but it probably wasn't the same for Fox (and I bet that might be the reason Peppy keeps bringing up the memory of James to Fox and being all "what would your father think?" If he did something wrong.) Anyways, I think much of Fox's personality stems from all the losses he's had in his life. This pretty much also applies to how he treats Krystal in the later games. I don't think he was being sexist, he was just simply worried he would lose Krystal like he lost his father, which is understandable in a way especially since Krystal doesn't seem to have as much piloting experience as the rest of the Star Fox team. Fox, meanwhile, is not sexist. He certainly didn't display any sexism whenever Katt would help them out during the Lylat Wars, I know that for a fact. Though I do agree in the fact that Fox has flaws. From what I see of him, he tends to get cocky, and trigger happy, and seems to always be concerned about how much he's being paid for doing his job. He also seems rather overprotective of Krystal in a way, and I don't blame him, though I wouldn't be surprised if his son Marcus ever got annoyed at him for this, if Fox and Krystal were to get married of course. (P.S. Sorry for the overly long explanation. I get carried away sometimes. Lol)
@AuraChannelerChris7 жыл бұрын
He's sexist, except the way he shows that is by saying the wroooooooong things to Krystal of all people. She's a much better pilot than Slippy, for one, and many can attest to that. Command shows that his worry for Krystal is a biiiiiiiiiiiit too much. I may be wrong on the hot-blooded part, but it's implied this happens between him and Falco. The comics expand on that.

Little did they know that it actually had a heavy story, dark scenes and some amazing emotional moments, I cried like a baby when Peppy "sacrificed" himself, I was so sad when he threw the Great Fox into the planet, I cried because I couldn't fight general Pepper and the Queen freaked me so much... Overall an Incredible game, truly a masterpiece, I wish they remake this game someday and follow this story with sequels, I love the art style and character personalities of this Star Fox

The plot may be a bit basic and the gameplay subjective, I've really grown to appreciate the character interaction reflecting their growth in the series. They really managed to play off of each other in a way that feels pretty natural. For the most part, at least. I think one of the more subtle moments is Peppy warning Fox not to get too trigger happy on the shield generators on Fichina, followed by the latter's almost immediate response. Very telling for how long they've worked together.

Now, if Nintendo could make a Star Fox game with the multiple paths single player mode of 64, but with the multiplayer design of Assault (with all the remaining kinks worked out, like how exiting your ship would instantly despawn any pursuing Predator rockets; that was such a _stupid_ exploit), that would be about as close to a 'perfect' Star Fox game as we could ever get. That's just what I think, anyway...

@armchairmaster3 жыл бұрын
You know, thinking about it, this story is insanely fucked up. -A race of Borg-like beings can parasitically control technology and organic life and fuse the two together. -After assimilation, it takes all their memories and melds with the queen. -Dinosaur Planet gets fucked, Corneria almost gets entirely overrun. -General Pepper literally asks you to kill him, looking like Captain Keyes towards the end of Halo. -Hundreds, if not thousands, of Cornerian troops die in the invasion of the Aparoid homeworld, Including the destruction of the Great Fox, your home for every game. -The game makes you think Pepper, ROB, and Star Wolf also die in the invasion. Star Fox: Assault is probably the darkest the series could go before going into Metroid territory, but even those games don't have your boss horribly mutated asking you to kill him.

I guess because for one its a staple of both Star Fox and the Sci-fi genre and because all the dialog is important be it because it comes from others on the Battle field with you or from Characters that give important information to enemies, mission goals and story while all coming off as very professional.

Well because the characters in in Sonic Forces arent taking the situation very seriously like at all as they all make jokes about thier kind dying. B+. A very decent Starfox game bogged down by slow on-foot missions and sketchy, inconsistent animation especially on the closeup cutscenes with mouth flaps. Starfox is vehicular battles and dogfights. There's no place for on-foot missions where you have to go looking for shit for an hour before dying to some sniper glitching through a building from a mile away. The artstyle and graphics are clean and crisp, but maybe a little *too* clean. The twin lasers and charge shot don't really feel like they have *impact*. nova bombs feel underpowered. spinning and maneuvers feel slick, but I kind of liked the Arwing better when it felt like a jet and not a high-performance sci-fi machine. The breaks and boosters don't really feel like it makes a difference, like the feedback is muted. The story is great, love the idea of a Borg type enemy fused with Starship trooper alien bugs. great concept. Final battle always felt tense which is great. but the on-foot mission on the planet was a slog.

@VulpseiusFox4 жыл бұрын
One of those special relationships where you respect your opponent so much that you grow to actually NEED them as a “frenemy” because otherwise you just lose your purpose really and life is no longer fun for you. So ironic. Your goal is to take down your opponent, but you know that if you kill them, then what do you do then? And then when it comes to a time to put aside your differences and fight for the common good, you wouldn’t really have that powerful counterpart to tag up with then. So basically you have to purposely not kill each other even though that’s your goal, and if it comes to it, even save each others’ lives and fight together instead. Lol
