Feyrude I don't see how that's the case. What I said wasn't wrong, but people will sometimes still throw hate regardless unless you state it's an opinion, and people will jump to the conclusion that your a fan boy if you defend something. I'm just covering all bases.

+Howtostudies You shouldn't have to get used to controls. They should feel natural and fluid. Like it or not controls are one of the most important things in a game, you fuck those up and well you hurt your game A LOT, and quite frankly the game wasn't to great anyway, but the controls made the game pretty fucking shite.

Weren't we complaining that Star fox franchise was deviating too much from original games. So why now complain its too similar to those. Sorry but I loved the game, yeah controls aside. For those complaining the game is throwback and too similar to N64, Isnt that what we wanted? Why change what is already good and fun. Zelda doesnt deviate much from its formula.

MadMax No they didn't. But I didnt say they did. I already know most ppl hate the new motion controls which is why I said "controls aside". I'm referring to the complaints that the game's story and design are too similar to the N64 version.

MadMax Consider it a Remaster. Revamping the original with better graphics/design and with added new mechanics (albeit some of the new mechanics are not fun).

Being too similar to the original games isn't really the main problem. The problem is that Nintendo is sacrificing playability for the sake of innovation. I'm all for innovation in franchises that needed it but if you're making a game that doesn't need it, then your game has a problem.

+JackOfen Star Fox Zero is my first Star Fox Zero game, but what hate is not flicking the right stick to barrel roll, but the unwanted somersault when rapidly tapping forward on my left stick and boosting on my right stick at the same time while I need careful movement. Gosh, wish that thing can be turned off! They already have the X and B button. Why the analog stick sequences?

+Lawrence Calablaster They hit something really nice with the ability to aim independently from moving, it makes things like the scrolling stages and dogfights with Star Wolf the absolute best they've ever been. Shame that the series probably won't continue down this line, if at all, because of the reception.

i'd just like to say, thank you shigeru miyamoto for ruining star fox with your obsession with shoving your gimmicks into everything and being blind to when it could actually improve a game, i mean think of how much better this game would have been with the wii remote and nunchuck, pointer control for aiming and nunchuck for movement, everything on the same screen and you pretty much have a light gun for aiming and blasting stuff out the sky

That means say Skyrim is perfect and games with only one thing some hate and didn't even play it, or played only a little, will get bashed to death only because of that one thing. This video vaguely says that it is just like 64, but with motion controls, which is a very hypocritical statement, but it apparently is the popular opinion on the internet.

No way, you've been way too harsh. The only complaint I would have is that the controls are a bit awkward but if you practise for say a few minutes I managed to wrap my head around it pretty quickly. Everything else is exactly what you asked for. "All we want is a game exactly like Star fox 64!" Here you go. You get what you ask for.

I thought the 3DS version was, and not the original. That's surprising, but the N64 controller's a chunk of the nostalgia that's tied in with the game, so I'd rather have it.

I think this is probably one of the funniest endings to an Honest Trailers video I've ever seen. I literally laughed out loud by the time the ending title was spoken.

I have no idea why the star fox formula is so stale to Miyamoto. The next star fox game in the series should Empty out the old team like Falco, peppy and Slippy. Replace Peppy's place with Falco. Reboot Miyu and Fay from star fox 2 and place them into a new generation of star fox characters. Put Fox on the side lines this time because his story is dead as shit with krystal in the games. Bring in a new protagonist that's also a new species of animal that hasn't been introduced like an Ox or Raccoon. Evolve on the idea of space travel with seamless level design. Have it be a rail shooter on the way to the planets then go full on dog fight once you get there for certain levels. Also why has starfox not introduced Mech suits? Gundam style arwings would be dope as hell.

what you're describing sounds an awful lot like my favorite ending in star fox command (it had a multiple endings feature, most of them suck) in one of the endings Fox retires and marries cristal and they have a son who looks just like fox but is purple, he recruits peppy's granddaughter and slippy's son (who actually looks badass, is orange and has a cowboy hat) and hires falco to serve as the team advisor, so yeah that team looked pretty badass, shame nintendo didn't kept the idea alive.

Star Fox on SNES had an add-on coprocessor so it was as much a technology demonstrator as it was a game. At first I imagined this game would be the real demonstrator for the Wii U's tablet-style controller... but then I started having a feeling disappointment was in store. So thank you for this awesome honest review, game summary, and trip down memory lane. Just saved Wii U drive space, money and time.

+Jill Valentine (Amos de Guzman) I just came into the franchise recently, starting with Star Fox 64 on the 3DS, and playing this game just now. I just can't agree with HGT here. I think Zero is my favourite out of the two. (Maybe because it included the walker and more fun boss fights. And the aiming felt more comfortable and responsive to me.)

Sunniva Vangen Robberstad I can't understand people who want to have a normal control scheme. It would be almost impossible to beat some bosses, and the faraway targets would never get hit. I mean you can try not moving the Gamepad, and that would emulate the original controls, then you would learn it's way to hard.

This is so spot on. I returned this game after being forced into a stealth mission with the gyrocopter. The controls are bad. The multiple vehicles are bad. Slippy is still alive, which, y'know, is bad.

This may be the first Honest trailer video that I disagree with. The "It's a rehash" argument doesn't make sense. Mainly because it's remake/reboot. The plot being similar shouldn't be a problem, especially since you could use that "argument" for games like SF64, Doom(2016) and Ratchet and Clank(2016), that all technically have "rehashed" plots. +Tom Sproson where did you read it has to have dated game play by any means? running around and doing quests for dinosaurs was NOTHING that belonged in a game about zooming around in spaceships and fighting the bad guys while in said spaceships. You can re-invent your game or have new themes and ideas for it WITHOUT completely changing the game itself

Why not make a Star Fox, where you play as *everyone* instead of just Fox. Yeah, I know. 2 and Command, but all at once and switch between players during gameplay, kinda like the Conflict games. Like Command, each member has their own unique abilities. And every time someone is being chased, the team member will say "oh no! I'm being chased" or have an indication that someone is being chased. The player will have the option of switching to that pilot to shake the enemy off or save the pilot while someone else, though the former would be quicker. Have several levels where you can choose who can be in an arwing or landmaster, but it has to be a certain number of arwings or landmasters (like only two arwings to cover whoever is on the ground in the landmaster). Just thinking out loud.

Huh, the game is honestly really good. The main issue is the lack of multiplayer and if you don't wanna try to learn the controls then it's not a game for you. Still it sold pretty alright at 270,000 copies on weekend 1, which is better than Assault and Command on day 1. It's a good game, just try to learn it a bit before writing it off, if you still don't like it, that's fine.

That feel when you knew StarFox was going to be a busted game when the price tag was $50 instead of $60. Felt like we took a step backward. Lost everything good about Adventures and Assault and just went back to 64. And guys you can talk about practice all you want, the control scheme is not good. No. Still a fun time if you have a Wii u tho

***** I just played the 64 version before and found issues in all range mode like crashing into what you're shooting (well in general) and losing track of where your enemy is. Zero fixes those flaws by allowing Z targeting on the TV for judging distances between you and your opponent and separating your aim from your ship's position giving you more control over where you shoot and move. I wouldn't say that I struggled with the classic controls but I will say that the classic controls created some problematic scenarios. I beat the game 3 times before buying Zero but I'm not going to lie when I say that those things get really annoying despite the simplicity.

I tried to play this game for 2 hours. could not get past having to look back and forth between the gamepad and tv. Turned it off, played Star Fox 64. traded game in next day for a 3DS.

It's more of a retelling or reboot. There's some new elements added in and some elements from the SNES games. But I feel like it had to be rebooted. Command screwed up the StarFox canon

+Retro Hero 276 I agree, but I think the whole problem stems back to Rareware pasting Starfox characters into their Dinosaur planet game, Assault tried to fix it but just wasn't quite true to the original, then Command just complicated things... a reboot was necessary, hopefully we'll get some good sequels now.

+Xaldyn Nemo not quite... it is but it isn't. It's the same basic prologue, with Pigma betraying James McCloud, and the end goal is the same, defeat Andross, but everything inbetween has had a big shake up.

+Dharengo I'd say Adventures was the core of the problems, it just wasn't a Starfox game and muddled things up. Assaullt was semi-redeemable, at least it was themed on space battles... Probably the best multiplayer as well..

Not that I know of. You just have to get used to them. I got used to the gyro on Splatoon, and now I am rank S+ on ranked.

Yeah, but the problem is that I felt the gyro controls... really bad, with tilting the gamepad on everywhere,moving the camera while aiming with the gamepad, I was really bad... And Please don´t mention Splatoon again... not good memories.
