Do any Americans actually know their national anthem besides the final line of "Land of the free & home of the brave" ? In the UK we learn the entire thing when we're children

@@IlIIlIIIIIlBrianSt0rm We learn it in elementary school, which I believe is generally ages 6-12. It’s interesting though, because I can’t remember it ever being a thing you sing along to in America. I think it’s usually just the main performer(s), and then everyone else is supposed to listen. But, we have “the pledge of allegiance” that we do every school day before class starts, and that everyone is supposed to say or repeat.

Although, I only know of it being used in schools, I’m not sure if it’s used in other settings.

Hmm. I'd like the Brit to sing OUR anthem. That's how you sing an anthem. The only people who seem to know how to sing the Star Spangled Banner are our military choirs. Also, the behavior of the NFL players does NOT reflect how normal Americans feel about the U.K. God bless America and God bless the United Kingdom!

The Brit who tried to learn your anthem as I attended these games every now and then. I can say it is a very hard song to sing correctly while also remembering the words. I'm sure the crowd would sing it if it was a bit easier. Presently, the thought process is we wouldn't want to disrespect it by singing it incorrectly

I like how with our national anthem we don’t really mix it up or want artists to take too many artistic Liberties. This means that it is fully concentrated on the meaning of the song and the reason for it. I kind of feel when American singers change up their national anthems it shifts the attention onto them personally too much.

The American are jealous of the British anthem because the British anthem are more easy to sing, it does not contain high pitch frequency, and doesn't need a pop star music to sing it.

@Maricor Pasigna You can sing the British national anthem without any music, vocal tracks, backup singers, instruments, etc and it'll sound the exact same as if a professional choir sang it because we all learn it the same way. America's national anthem is far too long and complex for any regular citizen to sing and it sound good

Both Anthems are truly amazing and always give me goosebumps, especially when I hear “O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave” (I’m British btw) but that is truly the best part of any anthem I’ve probably ever heard (personally speaking), but the American one always seems to be the one that gets changed and sung in a different style, as if it’s a pop song. It should always be sung with great heart, patriotism, and soul. Just like every national anthem.

I swear to god almost all of the american crowd and the players were chatting during 'God Save the Queen' while everyone remained silent and even the British crowd put their hands on their hearts for 'Star-Spangled Banner' No respect. My god...Im Russian now but I was born an American citizen....thankfully I left America! I however, MUST stand with my British friends. Not only Is their national anthem 10000000 times prettier, Laura Wright sang it with PERFECTION!! 100% on key, 100% of the time, without screeching up and down the keys and changing the damn song like Nicole did. If I had to choose I would say, Britain > USA ....ALL DAY EVERY DAY!! RULE BRITANIA!!
