6:34 That episode actually addresses one problem I have with shrinking stories. That normal air would be literally too big for shrunken people to breathe. Lucky they got shrunken together with a space ship.
@twocvbloke

The other problem of the "honey I shrank the kids" story trope is thermal dynamics, a body produces heat to keep it alive, shrink it, and it cannot produce enough heat to stay alive, embiggen it, and it produces so much heat, it dies, Kurzgesagt looked into the theory of shrinking & enlarging living beings and made the point about air and body heat quite well... :)

There's a missed opportunity on the TNG episode "Cause And Effect", they could've made a spin-off TV series about the USS Bozeman asjusting in the 24th Century.

There were books about that. Evidently Bateson was in line to comment the E-E, due to having seniority over *every* other Starfleet captain. (In real world militaries, my understanding is that seniority within a rank is determined by either date of promotion to that rank or time spent at that rank. Which functionally amount to the same thing. Of course, real world militaries don't have to deal with personnel being flung forward the better part of a century.)

Soran lost his entire family to the Borg invasion of his home, then he gets a chance to get them all back... only to have it be snatched away. THAT is what drove him nuts. Thankfully, it didn't drive all the other El Aurians including Guinan nuts. What about the time that Sisko was stuck in time? And Jake had to die at a specific time for it to end?

The "In a mirror darkly" one certainly was a confuser, given how they managed to snag a future Defiant (NCC-1764) from another universe, considering we'd had experience of the mirror lands in TOS and DS9 being in a same-same timeframe, but somehow the interphase was not just a thing that turned ships green, but wibbly wobbly timey wimey'd them elsewhere too... :S

Can someone clear up the All Good Things anomaly plot hole for me? The deal with the anomaly was that it was larger in the past and smaller in the future. The part I get. BUT, shouldn't it be still shrinking until the Pasteur creates it with the third beam, at which point it ends? Since Admiral Riker arrives further in the future after the third beam converges, shouldn't there be no anomaly for him to witness?

Never mind all that - why does Data have lights in his head under his skin? What is the point of them? Why don't we see light bleeding out of his ears when the room is dimly lit? Or his nose? Did Dr. Seung just make his head out of a parts bin? I'm no electronics expert, but if he “Light Emitting Diode” is basically just a specialised type of diode with similar electrical characteristics to a PN junction diode meaning an LED will pass current in its forward direction but block the flow of current in the reverse direction, then why not just use ordinary diodes? These are the questions nobody asks, for some reason ;)

I always had the question about the Bozeman. So for the Enterprise it was 17 days. for the Bozeman it was 90 years. So what was the Bozeman crashing into before the Enterprise showed up ? What was making the Bozeman continue in the loop for 90 Years minus 17 days ?
@sheetpostmodernist398
@sheetpostmodernist398 7 ай бұрын
I've always guessed there was nothing particularly spectacular about the Bozeman's situation that ended catastrophically. It might have just been a casual reset button that sent the ship back repeatedly. The lack of any really memorable event may even have been why they were stuck for so long. With no recurring nightmares and disturbing instances of deja vu, they may have thought nothing was wrong. Imagine if their loop actually began at the instant their ship appeared, and only lasted a few hours. They may never have had enough time in the anomaly to even realize anything was wrong, let alone resolve the loop.
