It is logical for @CHDanhauser to use this scene when making a concerted effort to address logical fallacies.

The average person can personally know/remember around 150-200 people. How many people do you know who aren't professional musicians that you'd also like to listen to on a regular basis? Now double that number...

@@Uruz2012 The number of shipmates an individual crew member may know or remember does not address the talents any crew member may have. Lt. Uhuru sometimes sang on episodes of STOS and Dr. Crusher had organized a play in an episode of NG.

@@DeconvertedMan But Star Fleet does have regulation against intentional deceit of crew members. Spock notes that the officer's conduct was against regulations for a senior officer. Spock does not directly say this is a potential court martial offense but it is perhaps tacitly implied.

The point being made is that even if it is not a traditional "fallacy" bad faith and false attribution - outright lying - are all forms of bad reasoning and thus illogical. The same with gaslighting. I wanted to depict all forms of bad reasoning and specifically name and explain them.

It is a fallaceous way or arguing in addition to being deception. It can be both.

@@Eltrio2It happened on another ship, so it should have been handled by those officers. Spock would have questionable jurisdiction over this matter, especially this long after the fact. But he made the right move letting the man know that his confession was heard and that this sort of behavior wouldn't be tolerated on the Enterprise.

@@STho205 I didn't mean that he should do that. I meant that it is a possible thing he could do to prevent being punished since we only have his word for what happened. I suppose if it was real, Spock could investigate and potentially find more evidence, but it really doesn't matter because it is a cartoon, and that is not even what this cartoon is about. So maybe we can not argue over something that is so entirely inconsequential? I'm old and my time on this planet is short. I would prefer to not have to justify every comment I make on a cartoon, when there are better things I could be doing.
