I am an LED guy, for the last decade, its been quite literally my career to work on LED lighting designs down to the PCB level. I can't stand them on pinball machines and its because of the instant on and off makes me feel sick trying to play a game like that in a dimmed arcade (maybe I should make a drop in replacement that has the rise and fall time of a lamp to try to get the best of both)

For the early Bally SS games, I agree that the LEDs can flicker pretty harshly unless the circuit is modified to suppress things. The aftermarket light driver boards (or add-on resistor boards) do a pretty good job handling that. For the Bally/Williams sys 11 and WPC 89/95 games, Comet sells the OCD LED boards to handle the flicker in the rise and fall, greatly minimizing the flicker. I've put them on just about every sys 11/89/95 I've owned or worked on. Certainly no regrets.

Where did you get the drops with the Star Trek insignia on them?

Classic Arcades. I don’t see it listed on his site, but it’s available through his eBay store. www.ebay.com/itm/305347217600?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qs-F4yG-RLO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
