The story of Anakin also echos the story of the Republic as a whole. Anakin Skywalker traded his soul to a Madman just for a sense of security that he won't lose any more people he loves. The same way the Republic voluntarily gave away their freedom for security in the war to the same Madman.

And yet they both care too much about something. Jedi do everything possible to avoid anything remotely "corrupting" (which is really just another form of fear, joke's on them lol) Sith are obsessed with controlling everything and everyone to make sure things go their way and their way only. I'd stick with Han Solo. At least he cares about the right stuff: kicking ass, and doing it with style.

Albeit no longer canon, the old republic lore tells us that ultimately jedi and sith were born from a rift in a shared philosophy. They were fractured pieces of an ancient whole. Moving away from each other in order to differentiate themselves from the other and thus growing ever more extreme in their differences. Like the detachment from desire, one renouncing ever more forms of desire, while the other becoming ever more extreme in their unrestrained and utterly selfish desires.

It's all just a tragedy all around because everyone could have handled it differently. The Jedi didn't handle Anakin correctly from the moment he stepped in the temple and help him in a way he should have been helped. Anakin was selfish and let his fear of loss and thirst for power take over him and put his needs over Padme's and the galaxy's. The Emperor knew this and was able to take advantage of both sides to get the results he wanted. All so very sad😔

It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.

I always felt that, had Qui Gon Jinn survived the Battle of Naboo, he would have better helped Anakin with his fears/ emotions. Once he died, Anakin’s path into becoming Darth Vader was set. Anakin Skywalker to me has always been a fascinating character to watch, seeing his compassion for others mixed with his burgeoning fear of loss makes his story so painful to watch, you just hope he finds happiness, but it’s constantly taken away from him.

Lots of people that disagree with the stoic and detached philosophy of the Jedi blame the fall of Anakin on that philosophy, but when you get into Legends continuity and the extended universe, you start to see that the reason Anakin was destined to fall from grace was because of his status as "The Chosen One." The vast majority of Jedi initiates don't even make it to Padawan, and even less of them actually become Jedi Knights. The Jedi know that the kind of detachment being a Knight or a Master requires is not particularly healthy and that few people are actually capable of doing it. That's why they try to turn Anakin away at the very beginning, because although embracing your emotions is a perfectly valid way to live, it is incredibly dangerous for a force user. Fear, Pain, anger, when you channel the force using those emotions, it breaks granting you with extra power, but slowly eroding your mind until you cannot escape your reliance of the Dark Side. Sith Lords before the rule of two used to capture Jedi Padawans and torture them into loyalty. In a more practical sense, being the unbiased arbiter of disputes for the entire galaxy requires some degree of detachment, because small attachments will worm their way into the minds of the Jedi and created biases that will compromise their ability to arbitrate fairly.

He was manipulated by a man of false promises that led him down to his path of darkness, only to be redeemed by his son whom he thought he had lost long ago...Anakin is and remains one of the most flawed and tragic characters in the Star Wars universe.

Aria Ravenhart Nope his love for his wife was motivated by his selfish desire to own her. The reason why he was incapable of letting go is because he cannot live with the fact that he has to let go, hence why he went on a rampage to avenge his Mother's killers. The Son, the most powerful Dark side user and personification of the Dark side even told Anakin that what he feels for Padme was more akin to imprisonment than love. True Love doesn't ask to be reciprocated, it let's go, when it has to an cares more about the well-being of the other before oneselfes, which he didn't do here in Episode 3. This is even confirmed by George that Selfishness is the path of the Dark side and that it needs to be beaten by the Iight. Sorry, but no, no golden mean here.

A parent's love is unconditional and being a father did change things for Anakin. Plus, he was older and more aware of his mistakes and all the horrible things he had done when he turned into Vader and as Vader. Mostly, seeing Luke's unwavering love for him and desire to save him from himself was , I believe, the moment when he truly learned what love really meant. Not motivated by power, ownership, control, fear, selfishness, pride and oppression but by caring for another and thinking of them over yourself, to let them be their own person, to respect their desires and to want to be better for them and putting them FIRST over yourself. Anakin put Luke first above himself and that's what brought him back to the light side. IMO.

One critique in Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) - Obi-Wan didn’t try to save Anakin on Mustafar. He just called Anakin out on what’s he done, like becoming the thing he swore to destroy. There was no dialogue during their pre-fight debate that hinted Obi-Wan wanted to save Anakin. Though the lines that did hint at this before Mustafar were.... “He’s like my brother. I cannot do it.” “You’re going to kill him, aren’t you?” “....he has become a very great threat.”

I think one of the reasons i bawled my eyes out at the end of episode 3 for the 400000th time after completing the clone wars, is seeing what obi wan watched in anakin. What he could sense in him the whole journey, and i think a piece of obi wan when he saw the holo footage of anakin turned, he knew that he had responsibility and could completely believe deep down that anakin could fall. When he shouts at anakin as he burns, i think hes shouting at himself. Seeing the anguish on obi wans face is seeing him realizing he should have talked to him after he lost his mother, he should have been there after ahsoka left, how he should have let him know truly about how he felt about the duchess and how he lives with his pain, and worked throught it. All i can see in obi wans face is "why wasnt i there for him when he needed me." You can even see it how obi wan wasnt there for ahsoka, in the counsel room he expressed doubts but didnt take the hard stance he and master plo did. He didnt talk to anakin about how he was expressing his own doubts about the counsel using him to spyp on palpatine. Not permitting the chosen one to be a master but giving him a little "oberver seat." Thats why he lived with such pain and misery, and why when he knew he was alive he was eaten by guilt. Because he wasnt there for his brother when his brother needed him most.

Exactly, I agree with your observations about Obi Wan, he wasn’t really there for Anakin when he really needed him. Thankfully he went about teaching Anakin’s son Luke very differently.

I agree with your statement, Obi-Wan and a Jedi Council could have saved Anakin's mother if they had really listened instead of just hearing him out. The flaws of the Jedi are truly Grimm. They're Jedi Code demand that you suppress your emotions and leave them on the back burner and never act on them, and only act on stoic knowledge alone and to follow the Jedi code to the letter, never compromise. But that's impossible, we as humans are driven by our emotions, it gives us to drive that we need to succeed. The Jedi Council believe there is a light side and dark side of the force, but to me and probably Qui-Gon Jinn, the Force is just the Force. What you said really makes perfect sense. At the Jedi Order practice on controlling their emotions instead of suppressing it they would have become more powerful than the Sith, able to do what they can do only more controlled and disciplined. If people don't agree with me then they can look at the Force Unleashed where are protagonist is clearly using both aspects of the Force and was able to match which would even the most strongest of adversaries including Darth Vader himself. But that's just my opinion. PS, I like your videos, I feel I'm able to understand more about the characters every time I click on your videos so thank you.😀

The Jedi are essentially Apollonian representations of slave morality (sacrificing one’s own individuality for the sake of the herd), while the Sith are Dionysian representations of master morality (volition and will to power are what promote influence and change). In other words, the Jedi truly do not bring about anything good to the galaxy; but transitively given the Sith are the antithesis to the Jedi, they don’t bring about change either. Neither orders interpreting the Force brought the galaxy any lasting change that benefitted it.

Idk if you are going to read this, Sage, but I feel that ahsoka also deserves a video from you, along side her master in this video. Especially since we have the entire clone wars story, how she survives the war (also in her book) and years later, encountering her former master, now darth vader. Hope it can become a video. Hope this comment speaks to you for a video.

The empathy that anakin felt from palpatine should have come from a wise jedi master, not from a Sith that subtly lead him in the wrong direction... If the Jedi masters had so much wisdom, why didn’t they know how to handle emotions with empathy? That would have been able to save every Jedi from the dark side...

If Kakashi had died he might not have opened the Mangekyō that day, when Rin died he lost his shit. His love(who did not love him) died & he's also upset she had to pass, living a very short life due to war. But he also wanted Tsukuyomi to work so he could live in a world with her alive in it.

The Jedi and the Sith were two sides of the same force. The Jedi believed that perfection and enlightenment came through controlling ones emotions and actions, subjugating them firmly beneath ones own will. To act in spite of what one was feeling. The Sith believed that perfection and enlightenment came from embracing ones emotions and subsequent actions. To act because one was feeling. Over the course of thousands of years and dozens of wars, these two sides drifted further and further apart, until they both became extremely warped and twisted entities. The Jedi taught that all emotion should be suppressed, purged from ones very being. The Sith taught that Emotion and feeling was all there was. Pain and rage and the power they brought was all that mattered. For the Jedi, droidlike emotionlessness was all there was, any feeling was wrong. It was this extreme warping that led to a force that was so out of balance on both sides that the only option was to wipe the slate clean and start over again, which is exactly what Anakin did.

See I think the thing about the Jedi Council is that they don't really care that their way is flawed Some people are better at adapting to it than others, and that's the kind of person they want on the council because that kind of person generally assumes that everyone can adapt to it, and so they don't change it. It's a perfect system to keep the cult going - because that really is what the Jedi are Some people won't be able to adapt to it at all, and they're okay with that too. It's tragic but unavoidable in their eyes. Because again this system has been in place for so long that the leaders think it's right. Those that can't adapt (Skywalker, Dooku, Quinlen Voss) are just labelled troublemakers and either kicked out of the order, choose to leave on their own and are killed, or just kept away from important assignments. Most people will be able to adapt moderately well - they won't preach the Jedi Code like it's doctrine, like the council does, because they do know that it's flawed. But they also know that it works to keep this army stable and that's the most important thing to them. And normally all of this is okay with the Jedi - maybe they'll lose a Jedi or two now and then, but it helps them better control the rest. But when that Jedi or two that they lose are Dooku and Skywalker, that's where the problem arises. Really, if it had been any other who had "fallen", they would've been fine and just continued with their way of life. So really, everyone views Skywalker as a bad guy for wiping out the Jedi, but I actually do think it was for the greater good

Anakin never truly was on either side of the force. He is a true grey Jedi The man that endangered Patme & the man that protected Luke are one in the same being. I argue there was no change of character simply a change of circumstances The tragedy is that neither side truly followed Anakin as the Chosen One If given the position he deserved , he would have brought balance to the force

@Tom Ffrench I agree. Nobody can control the dark side of the force. It's like a drug. You think you're in control, but your not. The Star Wars universe has shown time and again. That Jedi who embrace the dark side and light side. Will eventually fall from grace by the dark side of the force. Due to the fact that both sides of the force are corrupted.

Anakin just needed to be treated like family , to stop being belittled By senior members of the Jedi , shown understanding , to top being overly judged , constantly criticised for his unconventional methods of wining & the most important one was TO HAVE A DIFFERENT MASTER THEN OBI-WAN KENOBI BECAUSE THAT GUY WAS A TERRIBLE MENTOR FOR HIM OVER EVERYTHING ELSE! 🤷🏾‍♂️⛔️. Without all that then Anakin would have been ok & would have never needed the DarkSide stuff.
