Mark my words: In a couple of months or a handful of years, we will hear these words in some making of featurette: "So, we used AI for our production design. To give our costume designers, animators and so on a headstart as to what our movie should look like. AI provided us with some unique ideas that noone would've come up with otherwise. It has never been done before and was a first step into a larger world."

No -they are going to say the usual that the whole thing was real and so practical that the movie basically was carved out of a block of wood despite the fact that everything, in reality, was made on computers.

Without a doubt. The truly interesting thing is that this is just a very focused distillation of the catalog of the best of actual human creation from the past being used as a template. The 'A.I.' can't invent a new wheel but it can certainly spin the old one up in fresh if not absolutely creative ways...it's funny because it makes "modern audience" film-makers look all the worse for trying to re-invent the wheel while at the same time hating and failing to use what has come before. The machine without a brain has become better than the hacks with a heartbeat

It reminds me of the way the covers of sci-if paperback novels and Yes album covers used to look. And really, it would fit right in with The Mandalorian TV show. But the vivid colors and sharp shadow contrasts do look a lot like ‘60s films, by Bunuel and people like that. This film would be a Spanish production, I think. With a much bigger budget.

I liked the main film Star Wars trilogy for the diversity, far far away, from humanity. Characters like Jabba, Yoda, the Wookies, droids, and the ewoks showed a diversity of sizes. Hammerheads, while still bipedal, were also very un-human looking. That was my particular preference of Star Wars over Star Trek, where every alien looked just like some actor with a mask, prosthetics, or make-up on, all about the same uniform size, to fit the TV camera angle.

There are places and style of cultures and lighting throughout the Star Wars galaxy like these, although not generally that wide spread. Cultural style and architecture change wildly across its time and space, but the general tone and theme is on point. The monochromatic color schemes are actual things in star systems where the parent star is beyond human visible light spectrum, and it takes some getting used to and adaptive regeneration to make your eyes differentiate between the spectral wavelengths in a meaningful way when visiting.

Up to around the 2:12 mark it was a bit dark and heavy, like Warhammer 40K mixed with Fritz Lang's Metropolis 💀. Then it got a bit lighter with the wookies and ewoks.

Lots of ornate headgear; fun to see, but I'm not sure that's tenable as part of a wear-it-every-day outfit. Unless most of your job is standing around. What does it do? What's it for? Still, this IS supposed to be from the '60s, when people not only wore more hats, but for humans, recognising others is a lot about the face and head. Fun, though it reminds me that there are books from that era with speculative art like this, and these would drop in almost unnoticed.

AI is already making us obsolete. This is utterly amazing, but I feel pretty sad for artists. I'd say the trade is pretty much cooked. Not going to be the last; but hopefully it won't matter. On the bright side, at least something might actually make a decent Star Wars movie again.
