As previously seen only in theaters, #TKAtv welcomes Star Wars: Gray Trials the Movie, a feature-length fan film from The King's Academy's award-winning Studio 70. Set in the Old Republic era, three millennia before Darth Vader, Jayma Solvo seeks her path somewhere between The Force and the Dark Side.
*** SYNOPSIS ***
CHAPTER ONE (The Discovery or Jayma and The Force) Three thousand years before the rise of Darth Vader, at the height of the Great Galactic War, Jayma Solvo and her parents move to a new planet, Ashas Ree. There, Jayma faces school bullies, learning something that will change her life forever.
CHAPTER TWO (The Academy or Jayma and the Scepter) Jayma Solvo has trained for years in the harrowing halls of Korriban's Sith Academy. Now, as she tries to gain prestige and earn apprenticeship to a Dark Lord of the Sith, Jayma's future and freedom are suddenly tied to the quest for a mysterious and powerful ancient relic.
CHAPTER THREE (The Jedi or Jayma and the Jedi) When a fugitive Jedi abducts newly apprenticed Jayma Solvo and flees, she must rally her wits and skill to survive. Meanwhile on Korriban, Lord Barrows schemes among the Sith elite to investigate Jayma's kidnapping.
CHAPTER FOUR (The Friend or Jayma and the Wookiee) Jayma Solvo is marooned on the strange, new world of Kashyyyk. There, the Jedi way is Jayma's path to unlikely friendship. Meanwhile on Korriban, Lord Barrows must spring a trap set by servants of Darth Ekkage.
CHAPTER FIVE (The Way or Jayma and the Mandalorian) Darth Ekkage commands Jayma Solvo to hunt down her escaped Jedi prisoner. Meanwhile, Lord Cade Barrow's fate is revealed.
CHAPTER SIX (The Padawan or Jayma and the Escape) Hunted by Darth Ekkage's assassins, Jayma Solvo flees Onderon with Jedi Master Grenz. Meanwhile, Lord Barrows plots his escape from the Sith master's grasp ... and vengeance.
CHAPTER SEVEN (The Trial or Jayma and the Choice) Three thousand years before the rise of Darth Vader, Jayma Solvo must choose between her mentors, Lord Barrows and Jedi Grenz, sealing her fate forever.

This film is so underrated. The greatest line comes from a relatable, imperfect Jedi: We're all slaves. Will you serve yourself or something greater?

I played a failed Jedi in the Star Wars rpg. He was a recovering alcoholic who suffered from ptsd due to what he had seen during the rise of the empire. He had a long way to go before he could even begin to make amends and begin the journey towards becoming a Jedi. Grenz reminded me of that character who I haven't thought of in years. Thank you.

If you do make more, please bring back Arko and the Wookie, too! They were great. I'd like to see more of their friendship with Jayma, and they could also meet Grenz. Plus, the ending seems to set that up...Could it already be planned and in the works? ;) I hope so! Also, it'd be fun to see Mando and Barrows confront Darth Ekkage, and somehow Grenz, Jayma and company get mixed up in it too.

I also like Austin Parenti's character, Lord Zionoth. He is a fun villain and for some reason I like his little monologue, "Lord Cade Barrows, the Meek. Why does such a renowned duelist hide in the shadows? Is it that girl? Has she softened you? Hahahaha." I also wonder what will become of him once Darth Ekkage finds out that Grenz and Jayma are still alive.

Oh my God, I love the writing and the world building. This is why fans need to be in charge of making these types of films. They have a passion for it. They truly love this world of space, wizards, aliens, and laser swords. I love the cinematography, great angles, and shots! Disney needs to stop missing around and hire these guys! This was definitely someone's passion project and they put their time into it The biggest downfall on why a lot of the Jedi became disgruntled is because when you take a child away in their development stage from their parent, even if they understand, it's for their benefit you're going to have some serious psychological problems. Anakin had anxious attachment syndrome, abandonment issues. I know the Jedi meant well, they figured they could complete a more intensive training regiment if the young Padawan didn't have any outside hindrance. But we see a perfect example of what happens when a child is taken away from his or her mother or father When we follow the story of Anakin Skywalker. It was clear that he looked at Qui Gon as a parental figure and then when he was killed, Obi-Wan became the brother father figure and friend. Throughout the story, it's clear that Anakin just wants to find stability, love, understanding, and acceptance as well as praise. Things you will not get in the Jedi Academy. That's why they said he was too old to complete the training because he had already formed a bond with his mother like any other child. I kind of wonder if Anakins mother was allowed to be freed and taken to croissant with Anakin, Anakin would have the parental figure he needed. Although Sly being raised by his mother, he might develop nice guy syndrome, but that's a far cry from becoming Darth Vader (Spoilers) hehe.

This was great the first time and even better on my 2nd and 3rd viewings. Thank you to all involved for making this movie and for all of your hard work. It's a really well done film: it's entertaining, has good writing, pacing, cinematography, and editing, and it keeps your interest the whole way through. It has great characters, good music, and most importantly, a good message. The references to various Star Wars projects from the main films to the Old Republic period to Rebels and to The Mandalorian are awesome as well. Here's my ticket in thanks and in support of this project. I'll catch you Lothcats later!

I really hope this film garners the views that it deserves. Hands down (pun intended) the best Star Wars fan film I have ever seen. You can feel the soul and passion radiate through every scene and in every encounter. The story and the message exceed anything Disney has produced. It was witty and fun. Even the extras had character (my favorite was Issac). May the force be with you and your team!

This was hands down awesome. The story was strong, the acting great, and the creativity professional all the way. The way the characters were built without having to delve too much into their backgrounds showed the strength in the writing of this movie. The watcher of the movie can relate to almost every character but also learn from them as well. You hit this out of the ballpark, great job. I liked the battle where she stands between the light and the dark, the symbolism is powerful. You(or the collective you depending how many wrote this film)built the main characters up so well through their personality that their actions and words had deeper meaning, as if each word was meant exactly for that moment and no filler. I speak for those who commented as well as those who have yet to comment, I believe a sequel is in the plans or being written as I type this. Congrats, I hope we get a sequel.

Ngl, when I read the title, I was fully expecting for Kade to be a Revenknight. And then proceeded to go into this with the expectation that he would be trying to teach Jayma the teachings of Reven. I was even more convinced from the opening classroom shots. Didn't turn out that way but I appreciate the message being given about serving a greater power. Kade really had me convinced when we were introduced to him that he was not Quite a Sith. Then there is the guy with the two purple sabers who also showed similar behavor. EDIT: I was also about to bet on her choosing to walk away from both her "masters" and decide not to be a Jedi or Sith and have a moment where she relates to both codes but also disagrees with them.

Some would buy a golden calf only to throw it in a fire and beat on it until they got a magic spark. Here, I see someone holding something magical, sharing love and respect, and then sharing that beauty with the world. Far superior to many of the recent offering, and some of the super OG practical effects nearly brought a tear to my eye.

This was fabulous. the most realistic impression of the way people might behave in a galaxy that had a unifying Force, where they used lightsabres. As a massive bonus, Grenz typifies for me what I've come to learn as a Christian when he said; 'We're all slaves; we only get to choose our Master'. Everything the Jedi or the Sith ever did in any movie was imperfect; some of their acts were even cruel, or stupid. But this shows clearly the difference between one person's Master and another's, whatever their mundane allegiance. I'd been rooting every bit as much for Cade, as I had been for Grenz or the heroine; but in the end, he went a different way. When's the sequel coming out?

This was very nicely done. I like the fact that you looked at the sith culture. The way that the writers approached the the view of the sith lords and the idea of the sith counsel was something very overlooked by other stories. That said, I hope that in your future stories you get more detailed in the ways of the sith. I particularly liked the battle sequences, they were well executed and had nice CGI effects. That said, my only complaint is that I would like to see more of a John Wick style of fighting. Think of it like gun foo but, with light sabers and , of coarse, the dark force as well . Kinda like mixed martial arts with light sabers, as I believe that a true sith would be highly trained in unarmed combat and use any and all tactics to win a battle. After all, if John Wick can beat 50 to 100 humans with only a gun, a knife, and a coat, in 15 minutes, Then a true sith lord should be able to take down 2 or 3 hundred opponents in the same amount of time armed with a light saber and the dark force, and maybe, some training from Jet Li. Good movie! I cant wait to se the sequel.

for Episode 9 of the star wars movies in theaters, i wanted the NightSisters of Dathomir and the Hutt Clan to hear Leia's distress message and come to destroy the resistance because they killed Darth Maul (General Kenobi) and Jabba the Hutt (Princess Leia) and while the Hutt Space Ships would have an epic space battle with the Resistance fleet, the NightSisters would take Rey to the planet below and use force magic against her. and i wanted the Knights of Ren to show Kylo their true master Darth Jar Jar. who we saw in the red room in Episode 8 in the back of the room in a black cloak, remote controlling Snoke's body like it was weekend at Bernies' no one seemed to notice that Snoke had a huge gash in his forehead, he was already dead and Jar Jar was moving him around like he was alive. and Darth Jar Jar could have taken Kylo to Korriban, that would have been the first time we saw the planet on film in the theaters, and it would have been an epic place to have movie number 9 end at . as it has rich history with the Sith

For a fan film. This was quite good. Fan films are normally garbage wrapped in a bow of what ever story it follows. This is one of two SW FF I’d like to see more of. It looks like the FF are the only thing that is going to keep SW alive, since Disney is working so hard to kill the franchise. Long live the Republic. I’d like to note. To help improve the if any future productions. The audio sounded like it was recorded in a small room. Maybe some work there. But otherwise quite good. Obviously a great deal of time and effort went into to this. There are a few other fan films of quality on YT. It would be interesting for some of these groups to come together and share production expenses and produce a full length movie. As close to studio quality as they can. Would be fun to see what minds outside of Disney can do to further the franchise. One person already all but gave us season 4 of ST TOS. Called StarTrek Continues. A whole season. If a dedicated fan can produce that quality for ST. Just imagine what the SW fandom could do for this ailing franchise.

Ok, so, remember hat one time, when I named our protagonist darth marysueish or some such? Then there's this other time, I mention only halfheartedly paying attention in the beginning? Put those two together and you get a retraction... of foot from mouth. This chick's journey is structured flawlessly. I should've went for the rewatch before running off at the mouth. I could of course delete my last comment, but hell. Guess it's documentation of my own zero's quest lol. Yeah, even the little of tee tiny issues I had with some wooden dialogue are just nowhere to be seen this second time through. I don't really like giving my opinion of content, without finding anything negative, as if all I have are good things to say, I think I sound like a shill. Hello, my public profile name is shillery shilless the shit, and i approve this movie. This is freakin BEAUTIFUL folks! Well, well done, so much this is awesome, like all the this is awesome there is to be had is yours! This doesn't have that "I'm okay in premiere, and poindexter over there collects helmets and sabers, let's larp a movie" feel AT ALL! Like nowhere in this, do I get pulled from the story, because of budget or skill constraints. This is something all involved can most certainly have the utmost pride in! My last review of it was around 90% positive, with 2 small knitpicks. Those were a result of me not getting too focused on the movie, until the middle of the 2nd act. A mistake I certainly rectified on my immediate 2nd watch, and that lapse is the genesis of my only 2 gripes, so bad me, stupid me. I did better, and I am in love with the style of this, the flow, the charecters, the dialogue, the personalities of our 3 main charecters, are amazingly pro quality fleshed out, and developed. Darkness, sunnyboy, and mrs middleton are all just cruising along, spittin hot fire every line, making it look like just another day in their lives, totally not actors playing a role, they're kickass actors wreckin their parts, with mad force level precisiion.

I am so sorry that I rushed to get back to the movie. I caught up to the point where I was snared last time, and about 10 minutes past it, and just couldn't wait til the end to come back down here and fall all over myself rembling endlessly about just how wonderful this is, and only gave 3 of our actors their egojob, forgetting that they aren't the only one's on screen, and certainly not the only one's with the whole "this shit is just the easiest thing in the world" way of breathing the life into the charecter their owning like a boss. In fact, I'm very willing to give equal praise literally to every single solitary individual participating in this movie. This is truly astoundingly polished, and professional level stuff. There's too many great charecters to name here, so I refer to the handy list at the end of the movie, those, those are the ones who did a kick ass omega mutant level job on this movie. Convenient that. Alright yall shut up, I'm hitting play.
